🎸From Playing Electric Guitar to Building One🪵
Hi, I’m Zhipeng, an international student at Conestoga College.
I studied Music Performance in China, specializing in electric guitar, and I used to play in a band. I’ve always loved the sound and energy of ’80s metal music. 🎸🤘
After coming to Canada, I began studying Woodworking Technician at Conestoga. Music and woodworking may seem like two different paths, but for me, they are gradually coming together. My dream is to build an electric guitar with my own hands—and then play it on stage one day.
I’m naturally quiet and don’t usually say very much, but music has always been another way for me to express myself. When I’m not practicing guitar or working on a woodworking project, I enjoy reading books about philosophy and religion, cooking, and exploring the area by bike. 📚🚲
My friends often joke that my cooking could beat almost any Chinese restaurant in Waterloo Region. I’ll let them be the judges—but I’m always happy to cook for them. 🍜🥘
For me, studying in Canada is not about leaving music behind. It is about learning a new craft and finding another way to bring my interests together. One day, I hope the guitar in my hands will be one that I built myself.
For me, studying in Canada is not about leaving music behind. It is about learning a new craft and finding another way to bring my interests together. Right now, I’m starting with a small table—my first woodworking project. But every project begins with a first piece, and I believe that one day, the guitar in my hands will be one I built myself. 🎸🪵

📍Michelle's St. Jacobs Market Story 💬
St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market is one of Waterloo Region’s best-known destinations—and it is also where I work part-time as an international student. 🍣
Canada’s largest year-round farmers’ market is home to hundreds of vendors offering fresh produce, baked goods, handmade crafts and foods from different cultures. It is open on Thursdays and Saturdays year-round, with an additional Tuesday market during the summer. 🥕🍓🧺
I work at a sushi stall, but what makes this job special is the people. The honey vendor across from us told me that her daughter loves making sushi, the handmade biscuit vendor next door comes from Mississauga, and a lady at the Hong Kong bakery told me, “If you ever need help, just let me know.” ❤️
Customers also stop by to share stories about their trips to Japan or their favorite sushi. These small conversations have helped me practice my English, build confidence and feel more connected to the community.
For many people, St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market is a place to shop, eat and explore. For me, it has become part of my everyday life in Canada—and much more than just a part-time job.

Starting college in a new country comes with many questions — and knowing where to find support can make a big difference. 💚

At Conestoga, students have access to resources and services that help them feel supported, connected, and engaged throughout their student journey.

Here are a few examples of resources students may find helpful:
🩺 Wellness support

I have fallen in love with every season in Waterloo Region. 🍂✨

The fresh breeze of spring. The golden light of summer. The colourful leaves of autumn. The quiet, endless horizon of winter.
But among all the places I have discovered here, my favourite is a solitary bench in Victoria Park.
I have spent countless hours there, watching ducks glide across the water, leaves fall gently to the ground, and snow cover the world in silence.
From that bench, I have watched the seasons change—and, in many ways, I have changed with them.
These are the landscapes that will always bring me back to my early twenties and to the chapter of my life I lived here in Waterloo Region. 🤍

Meet Kathy!
“My interest in supply chain began when I visited my father’s workplace at Cai Mep International Terminal in Vietnam. Watching cargo move through the port made me curious about how products are made, transported and connected through different processes.

I chose Conestoga College because the Supply Chain and Operations Management advanced diploma matched my learning goals and offered practical, career-focused courses. Through classes such as Applied Business Process, I learned how SAP is used and how different roles work together across a supply chain.

During the summer, I returned to Vietnam and gained hands-on experience at a freight forwarding company. Being able to apply what I learned in a real workplace confirmed that I had chosen the right program.”

❤️ A Shared Passion for Health Care, A New Beginning in Canada

Hi! I’m Gordon, and Wen is my wife. We came to Canada from southern China 🇨🇳 after years of working in healthcare—but we were both excited to begin a new chapter together.

One of our favorite memories from our first year here was seeing so much snow for the first time. Coming from the south, we couldn't believe how beautiful winter could be! ❄️☃️

We’ve always loved helping people, so staying in healthcare felt natural. I'm currently studying Biotechnology Technician, while Wen is continuing her nursing journey through the EPIEN program at Conestoga. 🧬💉

Outside the classroom, campus life has been full of small surprises—from making dumplings with friends, baking desserts, attending CSI events, and enjoying live music together, to fun classroom moments like when Wen’s professor surprised the whole class with “scary-face oranges” 🎃🍊.

Looking back, moving to Canada wasn't just about becoming students again. It was about building a new life together—and we're excited for what comes next. ❤️😊

🇮🇳 Hi everyone! I’m Om from Ahmedabad, India, and I’m studying Educational Support at Conestoga College.

Moving to Canada was a big step filled with excitement, challenges, and new experiences. From living in Saskatchewan to continuing my student journey in Ontario, every experience has helped me grow personally and professionally.

One of my favourite parts of studying at Conestoga is getting involved beyond the classroom. From serving as a CSI Board Director to working as a Social Media Ambassador, creating content, and connecting with students from around the world, I’ve learned that college life is about more than classes. It is also about building community, creating opportunities, and finding your voice.

With my passion for leadership, student life, community involvement, and content creation, Conestoga has given me the chance to explore my interests while preparing for my future career.

I’m excited to share my international student journey, campus life, and experiences studying in Canada with all of you.

Stay tuned! 😊

Hi, I’m Cassidy from Shanghai, China 🇨🇳, and I’m studying Supply Chain Management at Conestoga College

My student life here is more than just classes and assignments. It’s birthday moments with friends 🎂, late nights walking out of the library when the air feels unreal , and group projects where we calculate efficiency, share ideas, and somehow end up making paper airplanes ✈️

Studying in a new country can feel overwhelming sometimes, but these little moments make everything feel more real, warmer, and worth remembering 🤍

Excited to share more of my Conestoga life with you!
