For English Speakers: I recently created an English-Japanese language exchange Discord server and it is still growing (with 72 members currently). It is a small community originally comprised of my study abroad friends, colleagues, gaming friends, Japanese friends, Cities: Skylines Japan community, and some interested individuals who found their way to us.
I am looking for anyone who studies/studied Japanese (and of decent skill) to join the server to help make it more active, thus making it an engaging and cooperative learning environment between both Japanese and English speakers. The server is intended for people who are already familiar with the language. This is to make sure the conversation doesn't feel off-balanced between a native Japanese speaker and someone who might just be starting out.
To encourage participation and engagement, I plan to hold live streams on Twitch.tv of group study, like with Crumbs McGee which we will attempt to teach him the spoken basics of Japanese. When the server becomes large enough, I plan to initiate a partner program where a Native Japanese will pair up with an English speaker for them to study together. I will hold competitions on live stream between two pairs in English and Japanese.
So if you are interested in joining, it is recommended that you should know at least the basics (basic grammar and formulation of sentences so you can communicate in text or voice rather than just knowing hiragana/katakana). I will not publicly post the server link here so please email me at yutthoyt@gmail.com, if you're interested, and do so in Japanese and I will respond to you in Japanese.
Hey guys, I would like to find out when is a good time to stream. I will list the options for my time zone (Eastern Standard time) so please use a time zone converter to see if that fits your time zone.
If you guys were wondering why I've been away for so long, this was why. This is a city that I made for a company that hired me. They were going to make a new factory in Asia and they wanted a new city around their factory so workers can live close by. They paid me quite a bit for this and they gave me a lot of technical documents where I had to follow of what they wanted in the city such as no rail or trains for public transit. Only busses for public transit with walkable neighborhoods, mixed zoning, had to be futuristic-looking, eco-friendly, and more. If built, it would be the third largest port in the world. I had to make several videos of the city to showcase to them, including a side-by-side comparison of the real region (drone footage) and in-game footage for the national government to see and approve the investment.
It took me months to build (August to November). I streamed this build on Twitch under the disguise that I was building it for fun. After that, I was extremely burnt out as I was rush-building with a deadline and took a break from Cities: Skylines in general until the Building Osaka Christmas episode. Even now, I am a bit burnt out but slowly getting back into Cities: Skylines. I hope you understand. Unfortunately, I cannot share any more specifics about this project as it is classified.
