A channel dedicated to putting Jewish history back in the context of world history. New videos on Fridays.
In addition to the main history videos, I also have two limited series: Jewish History on the Road, in which I visit historical Jewish sites, and Jewish History on the Plate, in which I discuss the histories of traditional Jewish foods.

As a personal courtesy, I'd like to give a shout-out to the Handsome Bastard barbershop in Rogers Park, Chicago. A couple weeks ago, I was in the neighborhood and needed to use the bathroom (in a city where businesses tend not to let people off the street use their bathrooms). But they did, and I was so impressed/grateful that I decided to get a haircut the next day. The barbershop is large and impressive-looking but unpretentious and refreshingly affordable (not unlike Chicago itself) and the owner wasn't a weirdo who wanted to lecture me about the "true nature" of the pyramids (I've had bad experiences looking for new barbers). I promised I'd give them a shout-out so here it is:

FYI, my ad agent was hacked and said hacker tricked me into clicking a phishing link. I’ve done all the proper procedures in response, but if something really weird happens to this channel, you’ll know why. Sorry in advance for any potential inconvenience.

Hey all, sorry the videos have taken so long lately. In addition to the last few taking much longer to research/illustrate than expected, a bunch of personal stuff has also gotten in the way: parents, kids, extended family, upgrading my tech, going through long-term medical processes under the constant threat of losing access to healthcare, a car crash yesterday that should've killed me. There was also an ICE raid in my neighborhood and I now carry my passport everywhere. And I'm in and out of meetings. But don't worry, I'm still here.
With all that said, I've thought for a long time about sharing my production process with people who might be interested in doing what I do or are just curious. I obviously can't dedicate an entire video to that right now, but one other YouTuber who's influenced how I make videos (and particularly how I write) is Patrick Willems. Years ago, he made a video about how historical dramas provide a potentially better model for creating interconnected stories and it's become a core part of how I do what I do.

It's May, which means it's time for the annual channel survey! Per much of the criticism of last year's survey, I've significantly reworked a lot of it without radically departing from the fundamentals. You can take it here:
