I will not have a video out this week, as I had been under the weather and we had lots of snow - not ideal for peakbagging, but great for snow play. I posted some photos from my recent adventures that do not make into any videos, check them out on my Ko-fi page: ko-fi.com/lukerockwalker Many thanks to those who supported my work! I really appreciate it.
Check out my new video this week—and stay tuned for more cave adventures next week! In the meantime, my mom kindly created a support page for me on Ko-fi.
My YouTube videos typically generate between $5 and $10 from ad revenue, which barely covers gas or other expenses. If you feel inspired to support my work, you can do so here:
On Ko-fi, I’ll be sharing extra photos from my hikes and behind-the-scenes adventures that don’t make it into the videos. I chose Ko-fi because it takes a smaller cut in fees compared to YouTube donations or Patreon.
Thank you so much, and I really appreciate all your encouragement and support. Luke
Hey guys, I am working on a new video and will have it out in a couple of days. My eyes are slowly getting better, but still quite red and painful. In addition to that, last week, I was attacked by two large aggressive dogs while hiking on a trail and was bitten by one of them. I am doing ok now, but it did shake us all up. My hand where the dog bit me is healing now. Thanks so much for your support and patience.
Hey Everyone! I just wanted to let you know that there will be no new video this week as I have some issues with my eyes, and I need to stay away from screens, thus no editing for me this week. :( But next weekend after this one, I will hopefully have some fun adventure videos! I had not missed a week since I started my channel in March of 2024, and posted once or twice a week. I really appreciate all your support, comments, and thank you so much for watching!
Hey Everyone, Just a quick update. Jason had a heart attack about a week ago. He is doing well and recovering now, but if you wonder why he is not in my upcoming videos, that is why. He will not be able to do difficult hikes for a few months. Here the the brief video update: youtube.com/shorts/C579HCExwy...
Please send Jason well wishes and healing thoughts. Stay well and healthy, Luke
Hey Everyone,
I hope you are doing well. I had been busy with many fun hikes and climbs, trying to do lots of adventures before the summer's heat scorches Arizona. I am currently editing six videos, which will be released over the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
Some of you asked if I will be covering more ancient dwelling sites. That is a good question. I will not make finding ancient sites my main focus in my upcoming videos. However, I do certainly point out ancient artifacts, and dwellings as we run into them on our hikes. The traces of ancient people are everywhere in the Southwest. I had seen pottery sherds almost everywhere we go. Stone tools, manos and metates, agave roast pits, Petroglyphs, arrowheads, lithic material, vague wall outlines are everywhere as well. It is not difficult to find them if you look. I have thousands of sites marked on my Google Earth maps. Arizona alone, has well over 100,000 sites documented. So if you are out hiking, just keep your eyes and your curiosity open.
Here are a few reasons why I do not want to make this channel specifically about ancient sites:
1. There is already lots of very good information and material available about many sites. There are some good YouTube channels that cover ancient places with respect. Check out Dana Holister, Southwest Screen, HansenAZ, Stories by Alex, Enigma Clandestino, The Trek Planner, Primitive Lifeways, etc. There are also very good archeology channels, such as Archeology Southwest, Archeology Cafe, etc. There are dozens of very good books.
2. Another reason is that recently, some sensational YouTube channels made it a trend to focus on ancient finds, and sometimes not very respectfully. I do not like AI thumbnails, copy-cat content, disrespect and exaggerations that these channels put forward. These channels also often mislead people and omit a lot of information and misrepresent things.
3. I do not find it respectful to try to sensationalize and profit from or show the location of ancient sacred sites.
4. I do not care about "discovering" something, I just like to be out in nature.
My passion is mountain climbing, peakbagging, exploring, and navigating in difficult terrain. I will be focused on that, and will show you whatever rocks, plants, animals, or history I find along the way. I hope you enjoy!
I hope you are all doing well. I will have a channel announcement sometimes this week. Also, I have lots of content filmed and am working through all the editing now, so stay tuned for lots more videos! For those of you wanting to see more of Buddy, sorry he has not been joining me on difficult hikes. Some of those hikes require intensive rock climbing, scrambling through brush, etc. Buddy is at least 10 years old now, maybe more, we don't know, as he was a rescue. He has been my best buddy since I was eight years old. He had a big lump and massive surgery last April, and it took him some time to recover. He is now also a little deaf and limps on his leg where the surgery was, but overall, he is doing well and stays very active and hikes with us on all the easy hikes daily. He loves the outdoors and gets crazy excited when he sees us putting on our shoes. Hopefully, soon, you will see him in some videos. Below are some photos of Buddy exploring. Have a wonderful week and thank you for your support!
Hey guys, thank you so much for joining my channel! I have a few quick updates: I will be publishing some fun collaboration videos in the coming weeks or months, as I love meeting with and hiking with people who had been my long-time inspirations and from whom I learned so much! I also have heaps of interesting content on the way, documenting ancient sites, cool geological finds, and amazing fun climbs. Also, I had recently blocked certain categories of YouTube ads from my channel, specifically those that feature sensational, political content, alcohol, drugs, or gambling. With this, I hope that the ads YouTube plays on my videos are not too distracting.
Thank you so much for going on these journeys with me and for your support!
