!!! Hello All !!!

KooL's Hyprland Install Scripts BETA Tester's needed

I have updated all my Distro-Hyprland (except NIXOS) install scripts (Arch, Fedora, OpenSuSe, Debian, Ubuntu (24.04, 24.10 and 25.04 (beta))

And of course KooL's Hyprland Dots to align to the changes 🙂

I am calling it as my 2025 version of installers 🙂

Please note that it is all still on development version, including Hyprland-Dots

so do download:

ie:
git clone --depth 1 -b development github.com/JaKooLit/Arch-Hyprland

cd Arch-Hyprland && ./install.sh

when asked if you want to download pre-configured dots, choose N

after installation:

clone KooL's Dots
git clone --depth 1 -b development github.com/JaKooLit/Hyprland-Dots

cd Hyprland-Dots && ./copy.sh


For Debian and Ubuntu, you choose Y for the DOTS


KEY CHANGES:
- animated installation to have a better installation process
- new sddm theme with ability to use current wallpaper as SDDM background (except ubuntu 24.04 as seems qt6 is not well supported by that LTS distro)
- Hyprland Animation menu (SUPER SHIFT A)
- AGS Overview using aylur's gtk shell as optional
- nvidia GPU will be automatically detected but offered as optional wether to configure or not
- Arch Linux - will automatically detect if PARU or YAY is installed. and will ask to install one if no AUR helper installed
- of course some small bug fixes... etc.

With the move of Aylurs GTK shell to v2, I decided to still keep v1 as it needs recoding to be compatible with ags v2.

I have just updated today all my distro-hyprland install scripts (apart for ubuntu 24.04) to have this feature optional.

This will significantly reduce installation time.

Dear all

Fedora, OpenSuse, Nixos (unstable) and Gentoo (~amd64) have update their Hyprland version to 0.42.0 version

Arch still on testing branch, quite surprising to be honest since its almost 1 week since Vaxry released a new version. However, for Arch, you can get the new version either from tesring branch or installing the hyprland-git from aur

however, Hyprland 0.42.0 have breaking changes as stated on Vaxry's release notes

If you are installing from scratch and using my script, this does not affect you since I also adjust the scripts accordingly.

BUT, if you have been using my dots, and ran an update, you will experience errors after reboot / relogin

1.) You can either edit the configs by commenting (placing # before those lines on configs where errors are)

or

2.) You can download the new and updated configs from

github.com/JaKooLit/Hyprland-Dots

you have various options to update

copy.sh - will replace (no worries as script is designed to create a backup of your configs)

upgrade.sh - its an interactive update process

or going through commits to see the changes

pls do not ran release.sh as this is just from the released branches

Debian and Ubuntu and its daughters, unfortunately, I couldnt adjust the script yet as I need to test it first, but tbh, running a bleeding edge Hyprland package to it, youre just like shooting your own foot to it. Unless of course you know what you are doing
