I'm Ben, I make in-depth documentaries about early and forgotten spacecraft. Early spacecraft technology has always been an interest of mine ever since I was a kid. Over the years I've come to feel that many early spacecraft and small projects had so many interesting features or aspects have been either overshadowed, forgotten, or simply overlooked. I created this channel to change that. With my videos, and your brain :), they will be remembered again! Here on Retro Rockets, we will be diving deep into the history, design, and technology behind these early spacecraft. Then we will discuss what impact they had on our future, what made some successes, and many others, failures.

Content on Retro Rockets is presented with historical context in mind and for educational purposes. I am merely a space nerd and not a professional, so please feel free to reach out to me if I have made any errors that need to be corrected!

Retro Rockets

I cannot thank all of you enough for the kind words and support, and it genuinely makes me happy to see this community grow. When I first made the channel all those years ago, I was honestly debating if anyone even cared about spacecraft features/tech breakdowns, you all dispelled any doubts I had. Your overwhelming support means the world to me. As most of you know, I am just an average guy and I do this to share my passion. Making this about money or fame would kill what it is, and that's why I'd rather work a job and have a longer video release time frame instead of ruining what this channel represents to me, and you guys.
With that being said I got updates, there's some good news, and some bad news. As the saying goes I'll start with the bad news (it's not that bad really). I am in the process of moving, however I did dedicate time to make sure I got Mercury as polished as I could and out the door. This will indeed mean that I will need around a month or so to get moved and settled in. Now the good news, once I am set back up I will be right back to it as fast as I can! Also, to respect my older viewers, we will FINALLY be doing Pioneer 10/11 next. I know you guys have waited a long time for it, so while it might not be as soon as I expected months ago, I can confirm that it will be next! From there let's see where we go everyone, the list of what this channel can cover is a long one :). A huge thank you to every single one of you. As always, I'm Ben, this is our spacecraft community, and I hope YOU, have an amazing day!

Update: Script for the Mercury Capsule is in the bag! Now it's on to voice work and then it's time to plug it all together in editing. ETA at max is 2 weeks, most likely sooner though as this part of the process goes comparatively quick. I'll give a "heads up" update a day before posting. As always thank you all for the support and I'll see you guys in the comments when it drops :)

Update: Script is going really well, A LOT to cover here but I am onto the Navigation section. After that will be Comms and then Life Support stuff as the "special feature" for this video. As you can see I have so much good documentation for this project, so you all will be happy to know there is going to be a bunch of nice interesting features with this one. Hope you all are doing well and I'll update you guys when the script is done and I start recording :)

Update: Previously mentioned life priorities are going fine, so I'll be having much more time and effort to dedicate to the next video, script is already at the "Power" section, and video should be done and ready to go within the next 3-4 weeks. It also includes a very special surprise collaboration with an idol/inspiration of mine, a Youtuber many of you will know. That's all I can share, but I know many (if not all) of you will be really excited about it just as I am. I'll keep you guys updated on the process and huge thank you to everyone for being so patient, it'll be well worth the wait :)

Update: Still chippin' away at the script for the next video. I've been handling some life stuff so that's been a priority lately, I'm sure you guys understand how it is lol, but I haven't forgot about the channel and planning to double down on the video once I get said life stuff in order here soon :)
