Hello, traveller! My name is Pete, and I love stories.
And I read books. And poetry. And other things. And I record the readings. And I upload the readings to this YouTube channel.
And you can find all the readings neatly organized in playlists.
Aaaaand this was a lot of "ANDs"...

On weekdays, I read short stories or novels. On Sundays, I read poems.

Feel free to say "Hi".
This is a non-commercial "just-for-the-love-of-it-project".
All the texts I narrated are either in the public domain and found on Wikisource, Project Gutenberg, and alike, or I do have explicit permission from the authors to read them for this project.

While (most of) the *texts* are in the public domain, my readings are not - of course - and mustn't be re-used or re-uploaded in any shape or form without my explicit written permission. Thank you :)

Lovely people, I just realized that I uploaded a "work in progress version" of Saki's "Music On The Hill" last Saturday instead of the final version. While the edit itself was close to the final version, there was still a temporary audio track enabled, which led to music playing amidst the narration where no music belonged... 🫣
I set the video to unlisted and uploaded the corrected version.
TIL: Don't upload videos at 3am. 3am is a time for sleeping. Please excuse my mistake

‪@martinrobert6709‬ pointed me towards a brilliant stop-motion animation short film by ‪‪@TheLoneAnimator‬ based on HP Lovecraft’s prose poem "Memory". Very unique and visually fascinating, with great narration as well.
Do yourself a favour and check the short film out: https://youtu.be/XINL-Yt4iy4?si=PSpxS...

I also found some "making-ofs" of the film. Definitely also worth checking out if you're into stop-motion animation:

Lovely people,
Some of you have sorely missed last week's Sunday poem. I am very sorry :( The reason was a stay abroad. For the same reason, I have to postpone today's short story narration for a couple of hours. I thought I would be back in time to finish and post today's story, unfortunately, there were some delays, so I got home much later than anticipated.
Since the narration is already recorded (and halfway edited), though, expect it tomorrow (Sunday) at some point during the day, and then, at very roughly the usual time tomorrow, the Sunday Poem :)
Double Feature! Yaaay ;)
Speaking of “double feature”: I brought two new skulls for my collection. I think I need a new shelf, soon 🤔 😂💀☠️

Lovely people,

As you probably know, I enjoy doing the Sunday poem readings as much as I love the short story narrations. I also know that quite a few of you enjoy the poetry as well.
Over the course of the last couple of months, it happened more and more often that after I recorded, edited, and uploaded a Sunday poem reading that I wasn't happy with it. So I tried to come up with new ideas, re-did it, ran out of time, and posted something that was more like a makeshift solution than something I really enjoyed.
It's time to change my approach a bit. Over the Easter holidays, I will think about something and "resurrect" the Sunday Poem in a slightly different form. It won't be a drastic change, no worries, I already have some ideas. But it definitely will not be a makeshift solution 😊
Thank you all for watching and listening! I appreciate each and everyone if you. Take care. I'll see you on the other side 😉

Spending the evening at my best friend Moritz sister's and parents' to watch the Oscar night. Moritz' screenplay of "September 5" is nominated for "best screenplay," and I can't even express how incredibly excited, happy, and proud we are of Moritz.

Please excuse the silence, lovely people, as you might have imagined, the cold returned. And it returned with force.

Recording went slowly. But I continued, and I am finally done. I am currently editing my narration of Arthur Machen's "The White People". I decided to make this an "audio-only" narration because it became apparent early in the process that including video would be a jumbled mess, as I had to re-record some passages.

A fascinating story, and a tough one to record. This was not only because of my cold but also because Machen's sentence structure is quite challenging.

I am confident that I can return to my usual posting schedule, starting tomorrow.

Oh, and look at these cuties! Two more arrivals for my collection.
