The support strike is interesting. I get it. Necros had said support mains were idiots. Morons even. And because his word carries around a lot of weight in the community, a lot of people are flaming supports, even more than before.
And we should prove the point that we are necessary. We don't deserve to get flamed when we're trying our hardest. That fact can't be denied.
But... Is this the way to go about it?
I see a few issues with the strike.
The first being... What about all those people who aren't a part of it? Those dps and tanks that appreciate their supports? Do they really deserve to not have any? They've done nothing wrong. And yet, they're forced to go without their healing, even though they know what it's worth.
The second issue I see, we're abandoning our favorite characters. We shouldn't feel the need to do that. We picked our mains because, for one reason or another, that character became our favorite. Whether it be the character themselves, or their playstyle. If we enjoy the characters, if we're having fun with them... We shouldn't have to give them up simply because people are treating us like garbage... We shouldn't be treated like garbage in the first place.
And the final issue I see is... Is this even going to do anything? I can see this whole thing backfiring. Because... By technicality... The support mains are throwing matches right now. This could make them treat us even worse, because we're not even trying our hardest now.
Yes, something needed to be done about what Necros said, yes, people need to understand that it wasn't okay or even justified, and yes, people need to know that supports are very useful and require a lot of multitasking. But I'm not sure if the way to go about it was to stop using supports entirely. I might be wrong though. And I hope I am. I hope that after this, supports get the appreciation they deserve. But I'm not sure that's how it'll go.
So, the video is almost done. Got some final tweaks to make. Also I'm sorry Magik fans but she's been replaced by Emma Frost. She'll get her own montage to herself next because of this inconvenience.
