TheComputerCrasher

Random Christian dude who's trying to figure out what to do with his life, both online and offline.

I might upload a few random video game clips, but I'm not really planning to upload anything really meaningful.

If you want to see great videos, check out the channels I'm subscribed to and my "favorite videos" playlist.

Maybe give me an internet point? internetometer.com/give/51118

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

I watched this video a few months ago when it released, did a lot of research, and now I think I'm finally going to try switching to Linux.

Ranking social media platforms for no reason
(if something isn't listed, that's because I have no experience with it or I didn't consider it "social media" [e.g. I don't think GitHub counts as social media despite Wikipedia saying it is])
1. Reddit - Much calmer than every other platform, and neatly separated into every category you could possibly think of (and definitely some you would probably never think of).
2. YouTube - Similar to Reddit in theory, but much easier to be passively involved. Just find an interesting video and you won't have to press another button until it's over.
3. Twitch - I personally get distracted easily, which is why I prefer the bite-sized, pauseable format of YouTube, but I can absolutely see the appeal of a platform that's nothing but livestreams.
4. Bluesky - Twitter without Elon shenanigans and with easier sorting.
5. Pinterest - Great for finding inspiration for your own projects, and sometimes for buying cool stuff.
6. Discord - If you can find a nice, small server to hang out in, you'll probably make some good friends. Unfortunately, a lot of Discord servers have hundreds of members, which makes it much harder to have normal conversations with anyone.
7. TikTok - YouTube but only Shorts. Why?
8. Twitter/X - There are a lot of people who do post intelligent things on Twitter (Supper Mario Broth for example), but most of it seems to be political stuff that I'd rather not get involved in.
9. Facebook - Full of bots, tracking, and AI nonsense. Each post that you want to see is followed by five that mean absolutely nothing.

Fun fact: Subreddits like r/piracy, r/roms, r/fmhy, etc. are technically legal because you can only post links to website domains instead of the content itself (e.g. linking to example.com is fine, but example.com/download/piratedmovie.mp4 is not).

Every once in a while I'll get jumpscared by this video in my recommendations and think "NO WAY IT'S FINALLY HERE?!" ...only to realize it's the announcement trailer from 6 years ago.
