🚨In November of 2023,📅 an investigation 🔎was conducted by the Kokomo Police Department👮‍♂️ and the Department of Child Services.

🚨 The result of the investigation resulted in a warrant ⛓being issued from Howard Superior Court IV on December 18th, 2023.📅 The Defendant, 🚨Steven Joseph Nelson (54) of Kokomo was arrested and charged with two counts of ❌Child Molestation, Level 4 felonies.

⚖ A Jury trial began on this case on February 6th, 2026 in Howard Superior Court IV. The trial concluded February 10th, 2026 at approximately 5:00 pm when the jury returned a ❌guilty verdict on both counts of level 4 felony ❌child Molestation.

🚨 Steven Nelson was returned to the Howard County Jail pending sentencing ⚖on this cause. He is ✔also being held for a separate Level one felony❌ child molest case involving a different victim from October, 2024. 📅

🚨Help needed to identify another victim of suspected Indiana serial killer, Herb Bauemeister

🚨The Hamilton County coroner is asking for help in identifying another victim of a suspected serial killer Herb Baumeister.

🚨The remains of one victim found at Bauemeister's Fox Hollow, Westfield, Indiana home have found a DNA profile, but has❌ not been identified.🔎

Thousands of bone fragments were first found on the Fox Hollow Farms property in the 1990’s and work continues to identify the numerous victims of Baumeister.

Baumeister is known to have preyed on young gay men.

Eleven suspected victims have been identified to date.

“We don’t know how many victims we have.  We’ve got 11 now and this DNA profile yet to be identified,” said Jeff Jellison, Hamilton County Cornoner.

🚨Now, Coroner Jellison is looking to identify 🔎 a 12th victim whose DNA profile has ❌not matched any entries in the national Combined DNA Index System, or CODIS.⁉️

❗❗The victim’s ✔father has been identified as 🚨Jerome Clarence “Jerry” Harvey, a 6’5″ man who worked in construction and lived in ✔Indianapolis for the majority of his life.

🚨Harvey may have run a ✔Fort Wayne, Indiana furniture store in the early 1970s and was known to frequent New Albany, Indiana.

“The problem with this case is in order to identify this individual we have to know who the mother is,” said Jellison.⁉️

🚨Jellison said Harvey may have attended high school during the early 1960s in Indianapolis and that he was 🚨married ✔four different times in his life. However, genetic evidence indicates that his previous wives “may not be the mother of the unknown victim.”⁉️

🚨The victim was reportedly a male, but little else is known about him other than that Harvey was his biological father. ⁉️

According to estimates done by Dr. Susan Walsh at Indiana University, the victim likely had “very pale to pale skin, brown to dark brown auburn hair and hazel brown eyes.”

“I think as we get into this DNA profile we could build this persons face, but we’ve got to find the mother,” said Jellison.

🚨🚨Jellison is now asking anyone who may have information about a male child connected to Jerry Harvey, particularly those with details on the child’s mother, to come forward.

“We need to get the remains off a shelf and to their final resting place,” said Jellison.

Remains found in Wayne National Forest identified as those of missing Indiana teen Hailey Buzbee

An autopsy report confirmed the identity of the remains, according to Perry County Prosecuting Attorney Terry Rugg.

🚨 Authorities confirmed on Wednesday that the remains found in Wayne National Forest in Perry County were identified as those of missing Indiana teen Hailey Buzbee.

The Hocking County Sheriff’s Office previously said 17-year-old Buzbee’s remains were found in the forest. An autopsy report confirmed the identity of the remains, according to Perry County Prosecuting Attorney Terry Rugg.

Buzbee was reported missing on Jan. 6 out of Fishers, Indiana. Fishers police identified 39-year-old Tyler Thomas, of Columbus, as a suspect, saying investigators believe she left her home with him the previous night.

Police believe Buzbee and Thomas met via online gaming.

Columbus Division of Police Sgt. Joe Albert said detectives began assisting Fishers police with finding Buzbee on Jan. 16.📅

An affidavit filed in Franklin County Municipal Court says that Buzbee had been at Thomas’ house on Hunter Avenue in north Columbus.

Homicide detectives executed a search warrant at Thomas’ home and on his electronic devices on Jan. 21, where they allegedly found❌ child sexual abuse material involving Buzbee.

Thomas was charged with pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and tampering with evidence.

🚨According to Albert, the investigation confirmed Buzbee was also with Thomas at a short-term rental property in Hocking County, where detectives believe she was killed

. During a search of the rental property, the sheriff’s office said forensic evidence was recovered, which may indicate that a crime occurred in the rental.

Thomas’ attorney, Sam Shamansky, said Thomas turned himself in on Saturday and worked with the FBI and other law enforcement to show them where he had buried Buzbee’s remains. Agents from the FBI, Hocking and Perry sheriff's office, the U.S. Forest Service and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation were then able to recover the remains.

🚨Shamansky said that Thomas will plead not guilty "if and when he's charged with a homicide in this matter."

🚨The FBI released a statement on Wednesday saying that since there are many locations and jurisdictions involved, as well as the nature of the investigation, there is no timeline for when more information will be released.

🚨Former state employee found with child sex abuse material

🚨An employee with the state of Indiana resigned from his position after police allegedly found multiple files of ❌child sexual abuse material linked to his social media accounts.

According to court documents from Tipton County, Tipton resident

🚨 Matthew Bills has been charged with:

Five counts of child exploitation, each a Level 5 felony

Three counts of possession of child sex abuse material, each a Level 5 felony

One count of possession of child pornography, a Level 6 felony

One count of possession of child sex abuse material, a Level 6 felony

🚨According to court documents, officers with the Fishers Police Department received a cybertip from ❌Kik, stating a user had uploaded three files containing suspected ❌child sex abuse material, including images of nude preteens and teens. The account, which was linked to Bills, had the username ❌“swimdadusa.”

🚨The documents stated that the IP address and the associated phone number were also linked to Bills. After a search of the❌ Kik account, officials reportedly found ❌33 images and ❌26 videos, most of which depicted nude females, both adults and ❌children. The two images that did not depict nude females were reportedly pictures of Bills.

🚨In Kik’s chat function, Bills reportedly said he liked to see videos of “young ones” and said he knew the videos involved teens. The documents also stated that he identified himself by name and said he’s in “state government” and on the “procedure and policy side.”

🚨Bills resigned from his position upon learning about the investigation into him.
In November 2025,📅 law enforcement conducted a 🔎 search of Bills’ home, where they seized a cell phone and a laptop. The documents claim that more ❌CSAM files were located on Bills’❌ Telegram account.

In an interview with Bills, the documents claim that he admitted to using a Kik account for 6-10 years and admitted to❌ possessing and ❌disseminating ❌CSAM on the account. Bills reportedly said he had deleted the account and was not looking at CSAM anymore.

🚨On January 6, 2026, Hailey Buzbee, 17, was reported missing to the Fisher Police Department in Indiana, who initiated an investigation into her disappearance. Through their investigation, they were able to identify Tyler Thomas, 39, of Columbus, as a suspect in her disappearance.

🚨On January 16, 2026, Columbus Police detectives began assisting the Fisher Police Department in their search for Hailey Buzbee, who had been tracked to Columbus. Detectives assisted Fisher PD detectives in making contact with Mr. Thomas at his residence, located in the 900 block of Hunter Avenue. Thomas admitted to picking Hailey up at her home and stated he dropped her off on the side of the road in Western Ohio; however, through continued investigation, his initial story was determined to be untrue.

Columbus Police Department homicide detectives have assisted in the investigation by serving search warrants on Mr. Thomas’ property, which led to evidence being recovered that resulted in Mr. Thomas being charged with Pandering Obscenity Involving a Minor and Tampering with Evidence. According to Hocking County Sheriff Lanny E. North, on January 20, 2025, the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Fisher Police Department, and by using technology resources, tracked Thomas to a short-term rental located in Hocking County, Ohio.

Hocking County detectives obtained and executed a search warrant for the rental property, assisted by agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

During the course of time, Thomas had contacted an attorney from Columbus, Ohio, regarding his role in the disappearance of Buzbee. He indicated he buried her remains in a location in Perry County, Ohio.

The evening of February 1st, Thomas who is incarcerated in Franklin County, was transported to the Perry County location where he showed authorities where he had buried her. Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Hocking and Perry County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Forest Service, and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation were then able to recover the remains, which is believed to be Hailey Buzbee. The remains were sent to the Licking County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy and identification.

On Feb. 2, Hocking County Sheriff’s Detectives executed another search warrant for the short-term rental property, assisted by agents from the FBI and the FBI’s Evidence Recovery Team (ERT). During the search, forensic evidence was recovered, which may indicate that a crime occurred in the rental.

The FBI, the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office, Columbus PD, and the Fisher PD are working closely together.

Any additional information should be requested from the FBI's Cincinnati office.

The Issue

🚨Create the “Pink Alert” & Mandate Predator Awareness Education in Indiana.
 
On January 5, 2026, 17-year-old Hailey Buzbee went missing from Fishers, Indiana. She was immediately classified as a “runaway.” Because there was no confirmed physical abduction, an Amber Alert was❌ not issued. Because she did not have a qualifying disability, a Silver Alert did ❌not apply.

But Hailey didn’t simply “run away.” She was lured.❗

In today’s digital world, a predator doesn’t need a van or a public encounter—they only need a smartphone. Indiana’s current alert system leaves a dangerous gap when a minor goes missing under suspicious or high-risk circumstances that don’t meet existing alert criteria. That gap can delay public awareness during the most critical early hours.

🚨We are calling for Hailey’s Law, which would:

Create a “Pink Alert” system for missing persons and children when credible risk indicators exist, even if Amber or Silver Alert criteria are not met.

Ensure timely public notification when disappearances involve unusual or concerning circumstances❗

Mandate modern predator awareness education in Indiana schools, focused on online grooming, digital manipulation, and coercive tactics used today.❗

For decades, we’ve taught children “stranger danger” and warned them not to accept candy from someone in a van.

While those lessons still matter, they no longer reflect the most common threats.

🚨 Today’s predators often pose as friends, peers, or mentors—reaching children through social media, gaming platforms, and online communities.

Plus a charge so far of Tampering With Evidence.

17-year-old, Hailey Buzbee was last seen on January 5th 📅 and her case was recently upgraded to an endangered missing juvenile.⁉️

Police say she left her home in the Enclave at Vermilion Neighborhood at 101st St. near Flat Fork Creek Park and believe she left with someone she met on the internet.

🚨A 27-year-old Warsaw man was arrested Wednesday for alleged possession of❌ child sexual abuse material.

Indiana State Police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in November 2024, leading to an investigation into Brandon L. Palmer.

A search warrant 🔎was granted for Palmer’s home and resulted in the seizure of multiple electronic devices, as well as the suspect’s arrest.

Palmer is being held at the Kosciusko County Jail on a $20,000 bond, according to jail records.
