It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Pastor Noel Shanko. Pastor Shanko fell asleep in Jesus on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

For more than 40 years, Pastor Shanko faithfully served the Lord in the Potomac, Carolina, and Florida Conferences. Throughout his ministry, he served in many roles, including pastor, Ministerial Director, and Assistant to the President. No matter the title, his calling remained the same—to faithfully shepherd God’s people and lead others into a deeper relationship with Jesus.

Pastor Shanko‘s life was a testimony of humble service, unwavering faith, and a genuine love for people. He had a remarkable way of encouraging those around him, caring deeply for fellow workers and church members alike, and reminding us that our greatest work is preparing people for the soon return of Jesus. While only eternity will reveal the full impact of his ministry, we know that countless lives were touched because he answered God’s call with faithfulness.

Today, we mourn the loss of a faithful pastor, trusted colleague, and dear friend. Our hearts ache alongside his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Yet we grieve with hope, because our confidence rests not in this life, but in the promise of the resurrection.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

I invite our Florida Conference family to join me in praying for Pastor Shanko‘s loved ones during this difficult season. May the Lord surround them with His peace, sustain them with His grace, and comfort them with the assurance that this separation is only temporary.

As we remember Pastor Shanko, may we honor his legacy by continuing the mission that defined his life: loving people, serving faithfully, and pointing others to Jesus until that glorious day when our faith becomes sight.

PASTORAL ORDINATION | Congratulations, Pr. Earnhardt! We appreciate you!Pastor William Earnhardt was born a fifth-generation Seventh-day Adventist. His great-grandparents were married by Uriah Smith in his home before going overseas as medical missionaries. From an early age, Pastor William knew he was called to preach and share the Gospel. At the age of seven, he chose to be baptized, confident in his decision despite concerns that he was too young.

William grew up in the Adventist elementary and secondary education system and later attended both Southern Adventist University and Andrews University. At fifteen, he preached his first sermon at the Tulsa Seventh-day Adventist Church and went on to preach in several other churches during his high school years.

At twenty-two, William became the youngest local elder in the Oklahoma Adventist Conference. In his twenties, he served as a literature evangelist, leading the conference in sales and hours worked. In the early 1990s, he became a Bible worker in the Oklahoma Conference and was later called to the Texas Conference, where he served for 10 years as a local-hire Bible worker.

In 2004, William accepted a call to serve as a locally hired Bible worker at the Tampa First Seventh-day Adventist Church, a role he filled for eleven years and in which he was often viewed as functioning pastorally. In 2015, he began a self-funded Bible worker ministry, working closely with the Florida Conference until 2022.

In 2022, William was invited to serve as senior pastor of the Bushnell, Homosassa, and Inverness Seventh-day Adventist Churches. Throughout his ministry, he has welcomed any temporal or sacred opportunity that allowed him to share the Gospel. Today, Pastor William is grateful for this ordination, which opens the door to continue his calling.
