Sorry for the lack of uploads everyone. Been busy with work and life's usual shenanigans getting in the way but I've started taking the time to go back to the basics and do some gesture drawings starting from today. My goal is to make this into a habit by trying to keep a consistent schedule to put in at least half and hour of my time every day to do this exercise for just two weeks right now and then slowly build up from there. The goal is to intentionally make time for personal art and improvement.

So starting today I'll be uploading my gesture drawings here as a way to hold myself accountable and to look back on it when I do reach my goal. Cheers!

**World Building Series: Welcome to the Segregated World of Sfaira!**

I have always been worried about showing too much stuff too early but I’m at the point where I feel like I need to start showing more of this whole new world that I've built up in my head and hopefully in return help me organise my thoughts together more. So, I’ll be posting snippets about my journey as I try to weave this story that has been stuck in my head since 2016.

How Diadem Chronicles was born:
This little project idea of mine came to me with me wanting to tell a story. Now, I believe that we are all storytellers. Every day, we meet and spend time with family members, friends, colleagues, and acquaintances. We talk about stories of the past, the present, and the hopeful future. I wanted to take that a step further and make storytelling a profession of mine.
But with that, I was hit with a dilemma, ‘what story could I possibly tell?’. And as I sat there with a blank page before me, tapping away the end of my pen I was holding on the edge of the paper. I was hit with an epiphany; ‘what stories do I like to read? What stories inspire me?’. The answers were simple, stories that nourish and instil hope.
So I sat down and wrote while I tried my best to visualise the theme, the story, the characters, and a whole bunch of ideas, and somehow, the plot came flooding into my head (most of which had been already scraped off, haha!). By the end of the night (3 AM), I was exhausted but happy with what I had- a crude lump of clay of a story.
In the coming days, I continued to do this whenever I had the time or when an idea or plot would emerge from the depths of my brain. I would always carry a pen and a notebook with me wherever I went… even to the bed and the loo (you never know when you get a light bulb!). When I had thought I had enough words scribbled down on sheets of paper. I contacted my cousin, who is also an ardent fan of comics, mangas, and anime; plus, he’s nerdy for books. He was also working as an Editor for the Oxford University Press at the time and I wanted his input on it.

I was both worried and excited to show him this new baby of mine, but when I saw the excitement build up in his eyes and the encouragement and tips (regarding the story element) I got from him, well let’s just say I will always be thankful to him for being the first person to nudge me on this journey.
And with that Diadem Chronicles was born.

I’ll be posting my journey as much as I can here, in the hope that interested readers will be willing to provide comments, critique, and advice.

The world of Sfaira is a unique one, it has floating isles and chunks of land that have sunken in. A catastrophic event called ‘The Holocene Extinction’ occurred which brought about a massive geographical change. Making the ground which was once whole and closed up, sink in. The 'Korr' which the people call the giant chasm, is pitch dark and seems to be endless in depth. A world that was once full of wonders and odd artefacts is now barren and dying. Food is scarce and the land groans and moans.

But there are still pockets of civilisations scattered around the broken lands of Sfaira. Each with its own culture and traditions, languages, and ethnic wear. Rich in heritage and lore but each has one thing in common, 'The Holocene Extinction'.

That will be it for today's intro to the World of Diadem Chronicles, a high fantasy webcomic I'm building towards before I start publishing chapters online. Thank you for following me on this journey and I hope you enjoy your time as we venture forth with this project of mine of building a world, its characters, and the story together from start to finish.

How has PERFECTIONISM affected YOU?

Personally for me, it has crippled and paralysed me to the extend of even picking up my pencil and sketchbook becomes a dread.

With the feeling of being trapped in an endless cycle of collecting and watching tutorials, buying art supplies that I don't even need or will use.
