Hi, I'm Dominique! I am the author of the children’s fantasy series, Starfell and Witchspark ✨🧹
I also write historical fiction under my pen name, Lily Graham, which oddly enough is the made up name, my real name really is Dominique Valente, thanks to a combination of slightly pretentious parents and the exotic addition of a Portuguese husband.
I was born with one hand, which has sometimes been useful for getting out of doing the dishes, but alas only if it’s with strangers as my family sadly just don’t fall for it. Originally from South Africa and in possession of a slightly weird accent, I write in a green writing hut, in my garden in Suffolk, which takes forever to warm up; a bit like my brain, and while I'd love a hut on a cliff with a sea garden and a pet whale, I will settle for a cup of coffee, a slice of cake, and something good to read.

Can we have a moment to appreciate the absolute genius that is @elasparuhova? 💜 I mean just look at these utterly gorgeous colour illustrations she did for two key scenes in Witchlight! ✨🧙🏼📚
One is a scene towards the end when the witches finally get their brooms! 🧹
The other is my absolute favourite scene where we go to The Dragon Book Apothecary & Coffee Emporium in Edinburgh, where the dragon bookstore owner prescribes you the book you most need, like medicine 🤗🐉✨
