How far will human civilisation reach?
In less than 66 years, we went from the invention of the first airplane to landing a man on the moon. And with the exponential rate at which new technologies develop, it seems that a permanent off-world colony is within touching distance. Nevertheless, the threat of extinction — be it by our own hand or external causes — continues to loom large.
So, will we make it off the Earth and ensure that, in the worst case scenario, at least some of us will survive? And how far could we go — in our lifetimes and beyond?
