I'm an adventurous cook and love to experiment with new ideas in the kitchen. I cook a lot for my family, but I'm at my most adventurous when I'm just cooking for myself. As a result, my late night snacks have have become increasingly elaborate. I'm always looking for new shortcuts and ways to turn a basic bite to eat into something incredible.
I love the excitement of trying something new, and the feeling of satisfaction you get when you master a new ingredient or technique. I am passionate about simplifying seemingly complicated recipes and processes and demonstrating how achievable they can be for a regular home cook.
So come with me on a journey where we push the boundaries of what is achievable in the kitchen with only basic skills and equipment (and sometimes, while trying not to wake up the rest of the house)
Let's get adventurous!

I hope you like interesting burgers. I'm trying to post weekly (or close to) for the rest of my burger series. This was just a taste of things to come. Following the burger series, I should have some home grown chilli's ready for another series of hot sauce recipes!

Allow me to introduce the newest member of the Adventures in Snacking team. If you have a good Idea for a name for our newest friend, let me know in the comments. Following the passing of my old ring light, this newer, slightly higher quality light will take its place. Next time you catch a glimpse of it in the reflection of a shiny surface, please make it feel welcome.

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of a very special member of the Adventures in Snacking Family. This Kogan ring light has been with me since the beginning, and unfortunately it ceased to function late last week. You may have caught a glimpse of its reflection in spoons, fermentation jars, or my benchtop. Originally a gift from my Mum and Dad, it opened up a surprisingly versatile array of new camera angles and shots and has done a pretty good job of lighting my videos without me having to fork out for a 3 point lighting set and learning how to use it. A clothes peg superglued to the back even allowed me to shoot vertical format video for Shorts. This thing, and a camera phone, is all the gear I have had, and I'm sad to see it go. I'm proud of the work we have done together and the level of quality that we were able to achieve with a basic set-up and a lot of elbow grease and effort. Good bye old friend.

Just doing a final quality check before exporting my biggest video ever. 30 minutes, 6 layers of video, 8 layers of audio, 87 composite shots, over a year in the making. I'm hoping people enjoy it 😄
