Beany is 17 years old today. In her terms, that means she is 84 years old. She is most definitely my superior.
She has quite literally saved my life twice and nothing I can do for her will ever be enough to make up for that.
Beany is an outside cat and their average lifespan is 10 years, so I my little fuzzball is doing exceptionally well.
Cats over 15 years old are considered geriatric and require specialized care for age-related changes like cognitive decline, reduced mobility, and diminished senses. Often, these seniors sleep more, require easier access to food and litter, and may experience weight changes or arthritis. Proper care can maintain their quality of life, as they are susceptible to conditions like kidney disease and hypertension.
But Beany can still give me the runaround....

Nobody knows the origin of Valentine's Day ❤️🔥. But the closest thing we have to go on comes from the Romans 🏛️.
From February 13th - 15th 📅, the Romans celebrated the feast of Lupercalia. The men sacrificed a goat & a dog, 🐐🐕 and then used the hides to whip women 💃🏽 — a ritual they believed promoted fertility 🌱.
Young women would line up for the men to strike them 🙈, convinced it would help them become fertile 🤰✨.
The brutal festival also included a matchmaking lottery 🎟️💘 where young men drew women’s names from a jar 🍯.The pair would be “coupled up” 💑 for the duration of the festival — or longer if the match felt right 💞.
The ancient Romans may also be responsible for the name of our modern day of love 💖. Emperor Claudius II executed 2 men named Valentine ⚔️ on Feb. 14 in different years. Their martyrdom was later honored by the Catholic Church ⛪ as St. Valentine’s Day.
Things didn’t change for another 2 centuries ⏳.
Mmmmmmmmm feel the love! 😘💗
