OpenClaw agents are powerful — but they forget everything the moment you restart a session.
Here's how to fix that in under 10 minutes.
The problem: you correct your agent's output (say, "show stock data as a table, not bullet points"), it works once — then the next session it reverts. No memory, no learning retained.
The fix: install the self-improving agent skill from ClawHub. It creates a .learning directory in your OpenClaw workspace that logs every correction, insight, and preference across sessions. Configure one hook in openclaw.json, restart the gateway, and from that point on your agent reads learnings.md at startup and applies your preferences automatically — even after a full restart.
I demonstrate it live with a Tesla stock data example. The difference before and after is immediately obvious.

OpenClaw has a memory problem — and here's how to fix it permanently.
By default, OpenClaw stores memory as plain markdown files. Under a complex prompt, the LLM gets overloaded and simply stops writing memory. You lose context every session.
The fix is Mem0 — a free memory plugin that works in two modes:
• Auto recall: every new question automatically pulls relevant context from a structured database before hitting the LLM
• Auto capture: every answer is intercepted and stored back as memory
Setup takes about 15 minutes: install the plugin, verify via OTP, run "openclaw doctor" if you hit a config error, and you're done.
The result: I asked about Microsoft stock from Telegram — the agent automatically recalled my timezone, my sub-agent config, my previous research preferences, and answered in full context. No re-prompting. No repeated setup.
Free tier: 10,000 memories. $0. I've consumed 30M+ tokens with OpenClaw and paid nothing.
