We have all heard the idiomatic expression, "Pull yourself up by the bootlaces and improve your situation through your effort; you do not need external help. You have the same opportunities and resources available to you as everyone else." Although, I earned a Doctorate degree despite being homeless for almost a decade, nothing would change. I would be bound to the same geographic for another six years. My story is not exhilarating; it is tragic. Experience the mixture of the marvelous and the terrible reality of the lives of those still living on the outside, after I moved in.
