Games || Indefinite Hiatus

Hello all.

I come baring somewhat bad news. Specimen Of Yan [Demo] has been privated and I no longer look forward to working on it further. Survive Min will still be up, because I do not want to take away something that many enjoy. Nevertheless, I don't believe I will be working on more games. Maybe I'll pick up the project again one day, but that is not a guarantee.

I've been going through quite a few things recently and the scrutiny I've received from my games have not helped. I am a very active creator who engages alot with my community. I see the love, the praises, the support— but I also have to bare witness to the hate, the criticisms and the false accusations. I'm very active and engaging with the fandom. I've seen the shit people say about me online and in small circles. Allegations of me promoting harmful behaviour with the themes of my game, perpetuating misogynistic values, or glorifying horrific acts— when it is made clear that such actions should not be condoned whatsoever. People spreading rumours that my game is just AI slop, because my writing "sounds AI" or is "too descriptive", when I have been using certain descriptors, em dashes, Oxford commas, ellipses [okay, maybe I don't use this one that much], repetition of threes, ever since high school before Gen AI even existed. I should not have to change my style that I've stuck with for years, but comments like these do get to me, unfortunately. I do not feel comfortable sharing my work anymore if it's just going to be called souless slop. Especially because I put so much of my heart in it, it hurts.

Yes, I will admit. My game isn't a masterpiece. I made Survive Min out of the pure willpower I had newly found from my sudden fixation on coding. It was my first time touching Python, first time writing again in years, first time being truly excited to share a big project— and so I did. But now... I don't even know what to think of my work anymore. The art is nice I guess, but the story is rushed, the dialogue is inconsistent, everything just feels wrong to me. I came out of my shell to share something I thought was nice at the time, just to get slapped across the face with it.

I don't feel comfortable sharing my work to such a mass audience anymore.

I'm an artist— I will still draw and create art. But I don't think I'm going to be touching coding nor writing for a long while. And if I do, I will only share it with those I trust. Otherwise, I do not wish to be so open to the public.

I'm not doing mentally well. I just want to spend time with my loved ones and nurture my loving community. I will not satisfy everyone and that is okay; I'm going to stop trying, because it's quite frankly... exhausting.

To those who have been awaiting my breaking point— I hope you're happy knowing that you've caused an artist to lose passion for their art.
