As I’ve been reflecting on this past year, one lesson keeps rising to the surface louder than anything else:

The table you choose matters more than most people realize.

Not the table that looks impressive on the outside.
Not the loudest room.
Not the one with the biggest promises.

The right table.

I’ve learned that growth doesn’t just come from what you’re working on—it comes from who you’re sitting with while you’re doing the work.

This year reminded me that every table shapes you.
Some sharpen you.
Some stretch you.
Some slowly drain you without you even noticing.

And for a long time in my life, I didn’t choose tables intentionally. I just showed up where I was invited. Where it felt comfortable. Where I felt accepted.

But comfort never built the man I’m becoming.

When I look at the areas that grew the most this year—my faith, my health, my marriage, my leadership, my businesses—it’s directly tied to the rooms I chose to sit in and, just as importantly, the rooms I chose to walk away from.

I chose tables where faith wasn’t just talked about, but lived.
Tables where discipline was normal.
Tables where men took responsibility for their bodies, their marriages, their finances, and their impact.
Tables where iron actually sharpened iron.

And I’ll be honest—some of those tables were uncomfortable at first. They exposed blind spots. They challenged my thinking. They forced me to level up instead of making excuses.

But that’s how champions are built.

I’ve also learned that the table you sit at today becomes the table your family benefits from tomorrow.
My kids don’t just hear what I say—they watch who I learn from.
My marriage reflects the standards of the people I allow to speak into my life.
My leadership rises or falls based on the voices I give weight to.

That’s why I’m more intentional than ever.

Because the wrong table costs you years.
And the right one accelerates everything.

As we step into a new season, my encouragement is simple:
Choose wisely.

Choose tables that call you higher.
Choose people who want you to win.
Choose environments where faith leads, character matters, and growth is expected.

And if you can’t find that table yet—build one.

That’s what Champion Builders has always been about for me. Creating a place where men don’t just talk about becoming better… they actually do the work together.

Here’s to sitting at tables that make us better men, better husbands, better fathers, and better leaders.
