Confusing Words: Discreet vs Discrete
They look almost identical.
But their meanings are worlds apart.
Let’s break it down 👇🏽

Meaning: Careful, tactful, or intentionally private.
Pronunciation: /dɪˈskriːt/
✅ She was discreet about the sensitive information.
✅ Please be discreet when discussing this matter.

Think: Discreet = secretive or careful.
💎 Discrete
Meaning: Separate, distinct, or individually separate.
Pronunciation: /dɪˈskriːt/
(Yes, pronounced the same way 👀)
✅ The report is divided into three discrete sections.
✅ The project has several discrete phases.
✅ These are two discrete issues.
Think: Discrete = distinct pieces.
⚠️ Common mix-up:
❌ “The report is divided into three discreet sections.”
(That would mean the sections are secret 😅)
✅ “The report is divided into three discrete sections.”
Same pronunciation.
One extra “e”.
Completely different meaning.
That extra “e” changes everything.
