BRO Restores Traffic on Bhaderwah Sarthal–Bani Road After Fresh Snowfall; Ensures Timely Connectivity

In a prompt and well-coordinated operation under severe weather conditions, personnel of 109 RCC and 118 RCC of 35 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) under Project Sampark of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) successfully restored vehicular movement on the strategic Bhaderwah Sarthal–Bani Basohli road following heavy snowfall in the higher reaches.

Continuous snowfall over the past 48 hours had led to significant snow accumulation along the mountainous stretch near Sarthal Pass, temporarily halting traffic and affecting connectivity between remote areas of Bani and adjoining regions.

Demonstrating exceptional operational readiness, BRO teams swiftly mobilised snow clearance machinery, including dozers and heavy equipment, to undertake round-the-clock clearance operations despite sub-zero temperatures, slippery surfaces, and challenging terrain. The coordinated effort ensured reopening of the road well ahead of anticipated timelines.

The restoration of traffic has facilitated the movement of essential commodities, emergency services, public transport, and private vehicles, bringing much-needed relief to local residents and traders. The road serves as a crucial lifeline for the region, particularly during the winter months when weather-related disruptions are frequent.

This successful operation highlights BRO’s continued commitment to maintaining strategic and socio-economic connectivity in high-altitude and remote areas of the Himalayan region. The swift response further underscores the organisation’s capability to mitigate weather-induced disruptions and uphold all-weather connectivity in challenging conditions.

With traffic now fully restored, normal movement has resumed along the corridor, reinforcing BRO’s dedication to infrastructure excellence under demanding circumstances.
