Since Roblox is now beginning to roll out AI-based age verification for basic communication and chat access, I’ve decided to officially leave the platform. There are many reasons behind this, but this one stands out the most.
I don’t like how the platform I once enjoyed is becoming increasingly tied to AI — it feels less like a game platform and more like an AI system itself. The upcoming DTI stream will be my final Roblox content if this AI verification continues to expand.
To be clear, I don’t despise AI. But letting AI “guess” someone’s age based on appearance instead of using secure, government-backed verification methods raises serious privacy and accuracy concerns. Many users naturally look younger or older due to genetics — relying on facial analysis alone risks unfair outcomes.
Platforms should prioritize verified, encrypted data sources that authorities or trusted verification systems already manage — not AI models analyzing user selfies. There’s also the risk of data misuse: if those facial scans or images are stored or breached, they could lead to identity theft or scams.
Under laws like the GDPR and COPPA, personal biometric data (like facial images) is considered highly sensitive and must be processed with explicit consent, clear transparency, and strong security safeguards. Without those assurances, this feature poses too many risks to user privacy and safety.
I want to make it clear that I’m not a lawyer — this is just my personal opinion based on general privacy principles and public information. I’m simply sharing my thoughts as a user who cares about safety, data protection, and fairness online.
So, with that said — I’m stepping away from Roblox as it moves further into AI-driven moderation and verification. Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey.
