The Kaioken used by Goku is not a transformation, but a technique taught by King Kai. Instead of changing the user’s form like a Super Saiyan, it works as a temporary boost that multiplies power, increasing strength, speed, and reflexes for a short time. The downside is that this surge comes at a high cost: the higher the multiplier, the greater the strain on the body, which can even cause serious damage.
Unlike transformations, which alter appearance and tend to be more stable, Kaioken relies on perfect control and precise timing. That’s why it’s seen as a high-risk, high-reward move, extremely powerful, but dangerous. Even so, in Dragon Ball Super, Goku pushed this technique to its limits by combining Kaioken with Super Saiyan Blue, something incredibly difficult that highlights his insane level of mastery.
