Hi, My name is Joe and I post daily YouTube Shorts and occasional full videos about reptiles, reptile keeping. Come with me to look for snakes and lizards across the Sonoran desert. Then after the herping come back to my reptile room for an inside look at caring for 6 reptiles, a scorpion, and the best dog this side of the Grand Canyon.
My mission is to spread love for all wildlife while emphasizing the importance of taking action to protect these animals and their habitats in the wild while improving reptile care standards in captivity.

The end of an era. 😢
This alarm has been on my phone for years and today looks like it will be the last time it will sound. This is in no small part due to lobbying sponsored by Meta to help eliminate their competition. This ban isn’t about protecting American data. It is about money and limiting our free speech. So today I post this screenshot commemorating my last post on the platform that gave me my name.
I was Joe_AZ_reptiles before my silly little Herpin Hippie account got big on TikTok and changed everything for me. Maybe I’ll go back to that handle maybe I’ll just be Joe for a while. Regardless I can promise you that whatever happens I’m gonna just keep Herpin. 🐍✌️🦎

The day before we got the bad news back from her veterinarian.
If you have followed me for awhile you know Jayda as the one furry critter on this reptile page. To my my wife and I she is a member of our family that has been with us our entire adult life. That is why this post is so hard to make and why my posts have generally slowed down recently.
Starting with the good news, Jayda is not gone but the bad news is she has a tumor on her heart and possibly liver. Even with multiple risky surgical interventions and cancer treatment our vet only gave her around 2-4 months to live. She also said it would be appropriate for us to bring her in for euthanasia at any time now.
We are now two weeks into making the best of this heartbreaking news and I am happy to say Jayda is still enjoying life and is more spoiled than ever. I will keep you all posted on how she is doing and what we are doing to help her as much as possible. That’s all for now.
