It's been a while since I've written one of these posts! Sorry, hopefully the livestreams have kept you in the loop somewhat, and I have been providing constant updates on my X account, RyououArchives, as well as on the Discord server, but I shouldn't forget about you guys on YouTube!
Anyway, I'm here with some exciting news! As of today, the Lucky Star: Ryouou Gakuen Outousai Episode 3 English Patch is 100% content complete! This means all lines of dialogue are translated and put into the game, all necessary CGs have been edited and put into the game, and the translator's notes and guide have been fully written! All that remains now is to test everything to make sure everything works well, correct any typos and make any last-minute fixes, and put together a trailer and the final patch file to release to the public! Hopefully, it'll only be a short while longer!
Unfortunately, there is the factor that things have been incredibly busy for me at my IRL job as of late, which may slow things down some, but I promise it will not be too much longer of a wait. Thank you all for your patience, and stay tuned for the release!
I'm proud to announce that the Episode 2 patch for Lucky Star: Ryouou Gakuen Outousai is now 100% content complete! While there is still some playtesting left to do, and I have to make a release trailer and things like that, the release is now only days away! I ask for your patience for just a short bit longer!
A major milestone has been reached in the development of the Episode 2 patch! All of the content for Comic Festival is now complete, bringing the total completion for Episode 2 to 60%!
What remains is the post Comic Festival content that belongs to Episode 2. This includes the intro portion of Episode 3: Lucky Star Universe, as well as the Hiyori and Patty Lucky Lucky Memorial routes. So, there's still quite a lot of content remaining--that's why it's only 60% done--but it should generally go a lot faster than Comic Festival due to it being way less reference heavy.
My target for a release at the end of May is still possible, but truthfully it will be close. I'll take the time needed to ensure its quality, but regardless, the release is definitely approaching!
I continue to be hard at work on the English patch for Ryouou Gakuen Outousai Episode 2. As of now, I have just passed the 40% completion point, at least in terms where I'm at in terms of the video series. It's probably not an entirely accurate metric since (hopefully) the videos for the post Comic Festival content (Hiyori and Patty Lucky Lucky Memorial routes, Lucky Star Universe intro) should be generally a lot easier than Comic Festival with its mountains of references and poor-quality video series translation. But of course, that means 40% is probably an underestimate, which is good news for us!
And yes, the references have continued to be a huge challenge. The translator's notes are already over double the size of the Episode 1 translator's notes and contain over 300 images! Some of these references were quite the challenge to figure out too. There was one where I skimmed through 6 manga volumes of the source material in order to understand it! But again, I think the worst of it is behind me.
I would also like to start getting a bit more specific about my goal for when Episode 2 will be released. While I will take the necessary time to make sure the patch is done right, I do really want to keep my promise of Spring 2025, so the goal is to have Episode 2 release sometime before the Nintendo Switch 2 releases on June 5th, preferably before the end of May. Having Episode 2 compete with the Switch 2 for people's attention would obviously be bad news! After all, both have the number 2 in them! It'd be totally confusing!!
I do think this goal is entirely feasible, and I will work hard to achieve it! Thanks for your patience, everyone!
Hey everyone, it's been a while since I've made an update here, so I thought I'd write something up.
I continue to have a lot going on in my personal life, so I haven't been able to get as much done as I'd like, but progress continues on the Episode 2 patch. I'm only at about the 15% complete mark as of now, mostly due to just not having the time or energy to work on it, but I'm really trying my best to start locking in so I can get through it all. There are also a TON of references in Episode 2, many of which I missed or didn't get quite right when I did the video series, so getting those right and making the translator's notes for them has taken a lot longer than I would've expected, but I do think overall things are still in a good spot to be able to make the Spring release window provided I'm able to put in the hours when they're available to me. Hopefully soon I'll be able to come back with another update where things are much further along.
I also am very sorry that uploads on this channel have been so infrequent. I'm not sure if that'll change until the Ryouou Gakuen Outousai English Patch is completely finished to be honest, but I hope in the meantime the livestreams I've done on occasion have been enjoyable. I do understand it can sometimes be annoying when a YouTube channel seemingly abandons their traditional content in favor of something lower effort like streaming, but it's just the best I can do at the moment without taking significant time away from working on the English patch. I will work to find a balance, but right now what's most important to me is getting the patch done.
Lastly on a more positive note, the Discord server continues to be a great success. Truly, it's helped show me just how much passion and positivity there is in this Lucky Star subcommunity I've cultivated and motivates me to keep at it nearly 5 years later. Thank you all!

I have decided to remove the new part 1 to the Ryouou Gakuen Outousai video series and restore the original part 1 to its rightful place in the playlists. There are a few reasons why I decided to do so, but mostly it just felt like I was messing with history by trying to create a direct replacement to the translated video series.
I'm not opposed to the idea of uploading the contents of the patch to my channel in some fashion, but I'll have to think of a different way if I am going to do it.
My apologies if you were hoping to see the stuff that's new in the patch via those videos.

Also I know I kept saying before the end of 2024 was a goal I was trying to meet with respect to releasing the English patch reboot. Unfortunately I couldn't meet it due to just how much effort I'm putting into it to make it as polished an experience as possible. The translator's notes especially have taken way longer than I expected, but only because there's so much to talk about!
With that said, I only have a few day's worth of work left on Episode 1, so it really should be released any day now! Stay tuned!
The Episode 1 retranslation for the Ryouou Gakuen Outousai English Patch reboot is finally done! This also includes reworking a large number of previously edited CGs to have improved visual quality. So that means aside from some final touches and last second fixes for typos and such, the reboot of Episode 1 should now be feature complete as far as the actual game content goes.
Now, I do say "the actual game content" for a reason. And this is because I am working on some fairly extensive translator's notes and a basic guide to accompany the patch that will help explain all the references and help to make sure people see and appreciate everything the game has to offer. This is the last major thing that needs to be completed before I consider Episode 1 of the reboot to be done!
Finishing these final things will take a little bit longer, and I still find myself very busy IRL, but I hope to have something awesome for you hopefully before the year is over!

And again, I want to make very clear that I am not in financial need, and I will continue to do what I do for as long as I can regardless of how much money this channel makes, so please do not feel at all obligated to give money. Truly, your comments and viewership are far more valuable to me. This is purely just an option for those who want to show their appreciation in a financial way.

For a quick update on that, I'm probably at about 60% through the Episode 1 retranslation. Still hopeful for something by the end of the year, though I will confess that things have really only gotten busier for me IRL. Progress is still steady, though!
Just a small update here to keep people in the loop!
Progress continues to go fairly smoothly regarding the Episode 1 retranslation for the English patch reboot. I would say I've passed the halfway point of this phase and have already made hundreds of various tweaks to help increase the accuracy of the translation, make some lines of dialogue less confusing, and overall make the experience more polished. Many CGs are also getting reworked or re-imported with my improved tools to better preserve their original image quality, as several CGs saw drops in visual quality in the Episode 1 patch compared with the original Japanese version.
I will say though that when I combine the amount of time I have to work on the patch with how long it takes to do a proper job at doing this cleanup, things aren't going quite as fast as I would have hoped. Still, I remain hopeful that I will have something significant to share before 2024 is over.
As for my other translation projects, I cannot guarantee anything until I have released the Episode 2 patch as I feel those who have been patiently waiting for so long deserve to have it as soon as possible, but I do hope I can return to having more regular uploads for those within a few more months.
Lastly, I'd like to say that the Discord server has been a massive success! There have been a lot of great discussions taking place there and interesting things being shared. It's such a blessing to have such wonderful people who are similarly passionate about Ryouou Gakuen Outousai and the Lucky Star games.

Time for another update!
