Uttarakhand produces around 1,500 tonnes of solid waste every day, and a significant portion is dumped or burned instead of being scientifically managed.
But there is hope.
Across the state, dedicated waste warriors are proving that segregation, recycling, and community participation can protect the Himalayas for future generations.
