Charlie Munger talked about a friend who was extremely disciplined and frugal.

“I’ll enjoy life later.”
“I’ll travel after the next milestone.”
“I’ll take the vacation when I finally have enough.”
But later never came.
He kept postponing joy, kept delaying experiences, kept stacking money for a future that was never guaranteed. Then one day, he died suddenly, having barely spent any of it or enjoyed the life he worked so hard to build.
Munger’s takeaway wasn’t “don’t save money.”
It was this:
Don’t postpone happiness indefinitely.
Life is meant to be lived along the way, not only at the finish line.
He often emphasized reasonable balance:
• Be disciplined
• Be rational
• But also use money as a tool to enhance life, not as the point of life itself
