WELCOME TO MY CRACKHEAD TODOROKI FAMILY TREE.
Warnings for mentions of death and suicide.

Disclaimer, this is just complete insanity on my part, I don’t consider any of this when writing the TodoFam outside of Haruo. All of these OCs are characters in my series I’m writing, so while I won’t explore them too much as MHA OCs, they will be in my actual series and aren't any different personality-wise.

Context: my headcanon is that the Himura was a powerful noble family with connections to the yakuza before Quirks and like the actual yakuza, lost their power after the rise of Quirks.

Born in the same era as AFO and Yoichi, Kyoka (yes she's also a Demon Slayer OC shhh) and Eigo’s families were servants to the Himura, and when Kyoka was born with pink hair and shown to have heating abilities, the Himura wanted to use her for experiments to figure out what all of that was. Of course, her parents weren’t okay with that, neither were Eigo’s parents, and they were all killed for it. Eigo and Kyoka were raised separately and suffered deeply at the hands of the Himura until their teens. With the help of a young katana wielding bodyguard that worked for the Himura, Eigo and Kyoka managed to escape, although Kyoka was left incredibly unstable and physically marred by the final set of experiments/operations. In the escape, they accidentally killed Lady Himura, wounded Lord Himura and burned their daughter; she lived but was physically scarred. Lord Himura managed to kill the bodyguard who had played as a distraction to help them escape. Almost after a decade of searching, Lord Himura found and killed Eigo, and planned on abducting his newborn baby, but was burned to death by Kyoka whose Quirk evolved into manifesting flames in her heartbreak and fury at her husband being killed. This completely destroyed her mind, and she turned brutal and abusive towards her son, Renji.

Renji is Enji on steroids, taller, wider and much more stern. He has a more powerful version of his mother's Heating. He was raised by an extremely unstable Kyoka who would lash out at any sign of emotion. She projected unto him the suffering she went through and her hatred for the Himura, demanding him to grow strong. Considering her instability, Renji didn't take it to heart and generally thought of her as just an insane woman. He never knew anything about his father or the man who helped them. Due to looking older than he is, he managed to join the Commission led army at 16, and upon him ‘abandoning’ her, Kyoka burned herself to death. Renji knew that would happen and mourned her the traditional way before promptly moving on. In the army, he showed to be an extremely effective and ruthless soldier, killing all and any threats with no issue. While many died around him, he always survived. A stern, seemingly emotionless machine. At 45, he met Shiyo at a bar when on a mission. His targets were bothering her while she worked, and he kicked them out (and killed them later). Shiyo, 30, gave him free drinks whenever he was in the area, and managed to swoon the man into marrying her. 5 years later, they had a son named Waku who they both absolutely adored.

Waku is weird. He’s just like that. Don’t worry about it. Despite the constant destruction and war around him, Waku was raised lovingly by his older parents and is as happy as can be. He joined the army too to be trained by his father and was an equal to Renji. At 20, Ryoko was recruited into their squad, considered too unhinged and reckless by the Commission to be under anybody else’s care but Renji’s. Due to her weirdness, she was disowned by her family and trained since a young age by the Commission. Despite being completely Quirkless, Ryoko’s fearlessness and constant chase for adrenaline makes her terrifying. In their first meeting, Renji had Waku and Ryoko spar, and she beat his ass. Waku proposed to her right there, and they were married within the month. Due to how ruthless the trio were, they became the precursor to Lady Nagant/Hawks, doing the Commission’s dirty work and essentially being a suicide squad. Because of work, they didn’t have Haruo until they were both 25. A couple months after Haruo’s birth, Waku and Ryoko were tricked into a mission by the then Himura leader, the daughter that had been scarred years, and they were ambushed by some strong Himura ice users. Renji realised what had happened, but when he got there, they were already dead (it’s far more complicated than just that, but let’s say, nobody on that battlefield was alive; lotsa gore). In his silent rage, Renji eventually found the Himura's location and slaughtered all of the adults after giving them a chance to apologise; they refused to and attacked. This eradicated any power the family had and truly buried their relevance, and since only the Himura head knew of his family history, the truth of Renji's parents was buried along with it. Of course, for these actions Renji was dishonourably discharged, and everything was covered up and buried by the Commission. Renji doesn't regret any of it, but due to his grief over losing his son and daughter in law, not to mention his elderly age, he lost his mind and connection to reality. He and Shiyo tried to raise Haruo, but both were unable to provide the same dedication they had Waku.
Haruo never knew of any of this and only knew the senile and distant versions of them. Nonetheless, he named Enji in honour of his grandfather, subconsciously hoping Enji could be the descendent Renji had never found in Haruo.

So Akihime's parents, Enji's maternal grandparents; Mr Quirkless and his wife, Mrs Emotionless Corporation
Kimio is "Inferiority Complex" the man. Born from an average family Quirkless, he's always been jealous of others. He's envy personified, the type to climb the ladder and then kick it down behind him. He got into textiles and climbed his way up the ranks through hard work and intellect. Meanwhile, Bibi was born into a middle-class textiles business family and is the embodiment of cold corporate. Her Bottle Up Quirk is less potent than Akihime's and it gives her a powerful voice that demands respect. She deemed Kimio a suitable partner and requested a male heir to inherit the business they grew together. However, they had many fertility issues and things got expensive. They ended up with Akihime in their 40s and had to settle for a girl. Cold, demanding with high expectations and never impressed, Akihime has been disappointing to them since they knew her sex, and they deem her nothing but a disappointment since. They both think each other are the best the world can offer and that Akihime just isn't trying hard enough; the mix of the Bottle Up Quirk and Kimio's inner demons clashed in Akihime and made her more openly volatile.

If I was going full in on my insanity, I'd have Kyoka's vestige literally haunt the modern TodoFam. Why did Touya's body gain cold resistance and not fire? Kyoka literally rejected him and screwed up his Quirk as punishment to Enji for marrying a Himura, and as punishment to Rei for existing. Kyoka's hatred for the Himura transcends time and space; that angry look from Touya and Enji that terrifies Rei? Inherited from Kyoka. There's a bunch of themes and parallels I got going with them as well, like Renji and Waku being parallels of Enji and Touya, Shiyo being where Haruo, Fuyumi and Shoto get their tenderness from, as well as Eigo being where they kind their unconditional kindness from. The Chishiya are where the emotional turmoil comes from.

But when Shoto was little, he was wary of Enji because he didn’t spend much time with him like the others, is generally shy and found his face scary. After some encouragement from Fuyumi, Shoto did accept spending one of Enji’s days off with him, and thus started his All Might collection that rival’s Touya’s Endeavor army. Enji and Shoto aren’t awkward anymore these days
