NEW VIDEO: Soviet BLITZKRIEG: Stalin's 6 Tank Armies EXPLAINED: Generals, Deep Operations, Eastern Front in WW2

Check it out!!

....

The Soviet Union in WW2 formed 6 elite Tank Armies that played key roles in executing the Soviet version of 'Blitzkrieg' (Deep Battle and Deep Operations) from Stalingrad to Berlin. The highly mobile, logistically robust, and extremely tank-heavy structure of a Tank Army led by battle-proven commanders made this possible.

The most important Generals were 1st Guards Tank Army: Katukov, 2nd Guards Tank Army: Bogdanov, 3rd Guards Tank Army: Rybalko 5th Guards Tank Army: Rotmistrov, 4th Tank Army: Lelyushenko, 6th Tank Army: Andrei Kravchenko.

During World War II, a Red Army tank army was an operational field formation made up of hundreds of tanks, motorized infantry, and artillery designed for deep battle breakthroughs.

NEW VIDEO: 1941: Why Soviet T-34 & KV-1 Tanks FAILED in Border Battles of Operation Barbarossa, Red Army

Check it out!!

...

Before Operation Barbarossa, the Soviets had the largest tank force in the world, with 15,470+ tanks facing the German Army & its Axis allies. This armada was equipped with the T-34, KV-1, KV-2, T-26, BT-5, BT-7, T-28, and T-35 tanks.

When the Germans invaded the Soviet Union, the Red Army had four times as many tanks as the Wehrmacht and their tanks, especially of the T-34 and KV-1 type were seemingly superior. But the Wehrmacht won the border battles with extraordinary ease. The Red Army's tank force was pushed aside and for the most part annihilated. How was this victory achieved, and were the Soviet tanks really as well designed as is often believed?

NEW VIDEO: More DEADLY than IS-2? The POWER of Zis-3 Artillery with Anti-Tank Tactics: Red Army Combined Arms

Check it out!!

...

During World War II, the Red Army evolved from vulnerable, uncoordinated formations into masters of armored defense. They relied on deeply echeloned defense-in-depth, specialized Tank Destroyer Brigades, massed anti-tank strong points, and close-combat infantry integration to neutralize German panzers.

Nodes featuring 4 to 6 anti-tank artillery (such as the 45mm, 57mm, or the ubiquitous ZiS-3 76mm), anti-tank rifles, and machine guns, providing mutually supporting all-around fields of fire.

Soviet mobile mine-layers and combat engineers installed up to 1,500 anti-tank mines per kilometer, often under direct observation and artillery fire, to immobilize tanks where they could be systematically destroyed.

NEW VIDEO: COMBAT Footage & How the 3rd BATTLE of Kharkov CREATED the Battle of KURSK, Walter Model's GAMBLE

Check it out!!

....

This is Video #1 in a 19-part series is about Walter Model's Northern attack in the Battle of Kursk. This video is about the planning, preparation, and debates for Operation Citadel. The last operational victory of the German Army after Stalingrad at the 3rd Battle of Kharkov created conditions for the offensive, which was preceded by a Luftwaffe strategic bombing campaign in the spring of 1943.

Panzergrenadier Division Großdeutschland Division reinforced with 200 Panther Tanks was built up to be the spearhead while high level debates & procrastination over the starting date occurred between Walter Model, Manstein, Guderian, von Kluge, and the Supreme commander.

Operation Citadel was delayed to the last minute, when the Soviets were ready to attack at any day. Meanwhile the Germans rebuilt the German army and reinforced it with Wonder Weapons such as the Panther Tank, Tiger Tank, Ferdinand Tank destroyer, Hummel, Wespe, Grille Self-propelled artillery, remote control demolitions (Borgward IV), and Sturmpanzer IV Brummbär.

NEW VIDEO: Strengths & Weaknesses of T-34 Medium TANK, Soviet Red Army's Tool of Deep Battle, Eastern Front

Check it out!!

.....

The T-34 was the most important tank of WW2 and critical to the Soviet Red Army's victory on the Eastern Front. The T-34 medium tank combined revolutionary sloped armor, high mobility, and massive industrial production of over 80,000 T-34s, swamping Panzer III and Panzer IV, Panzer V Panther, and Panzer VI Tiger Tank production with mass.

The tactical doctrine of the T-34, refined in WW2, influenced post-war Soviet designs which were exported & throughout the world. The ease of repair of the T-34/76 and T-34/85 allowed it to be easily integrated in Soviet Deep Operations and Deep Battle Tactics.

But despite its enormous operational & strategic impact the T-34 was also the most destroyed tank of WW2. It had many tactical flaws, especially in tank to tank combat and crew & tank unit training that prevented this great tank from reaching maximum combat efficiency.

New Video: A Soviet Red Army PENAL Battalion's CLOSE COMBAT: Shtrafbats from Bagration to the Vistula-Oder

Check it out!!

.....

Shtrafbats (Russian: штрафбат, штрафной батальон) were Soviet penal battalions that fought on the Eastern Front in World War II.

The shtrafbats were greatly increased in number by Joseph Stalin in July 1942 via Order No. 227 (Директива Ставки ВГК № 227). Order No. 227 was a desperate effort to re-instill discipline after the panicked routs of the first year of combat with Germany. The order—popularized as the "Not one step back!" (Ни шагу назад!, Ni shagu nazad!) Order—introduced severe punishments, including summary execution, for unauthorized retreats.

Pursuant to Order No. 227, the first penal battalions were originally authorized a strength of 800 men; penal companies were also authorized, consisting of between 150 and 200 men per company. In addition to the battalions already serving with Armies, other battalions, subordinated to Fronts (the equivalent of Army Groups), were introduced.
