Plants are living things, but unlike humans and animals, they do not eat food. They make their own food using a process called photosynthesis.
🔬 How does photosynthesis happen?
1. ☀️ Sunlight – Source of Energy Plants need sunlight to make their food. The green leaves capture sunlight with the help of chlorophyll.
2. 💧 Water – From the Soil The roots absorb water from the soil and carry it to different parts of the plant.
3. 🌬️ Carbon Dioxide – From the Air Leaves take in carbon dioxide from the air through tiny openings called stomata.
4. 🍃 Leaves Make Food Inside the green leaves, sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide are used to make food. This process is called photosynthesis.
5. 🍚 Food Helps the Plant Grow The plant makes a sugar called glucose, which provides energy and helps the plant grow. Extra food can be stored for later use.
6. 💨 Oxygen is Released During photosynthesis, plants release oxygen into the air, which humans and animals need to breathe.
