Under the canopy of Bijarim Forest, the air is rich with the scent of earth and leaves. A gentle rain falls intermittently, lightly touching the foliage, blending with the natural sounds of the forest. This sound and video walk invites you to immerse yourself in the delicate interplay between water and landscape, between ephemeral movement and deep-rooted stillness.

As droplets settle on broad leaves and trace their way down ancient bark, they accentuate the forest’s quiet murmur. The soft absorption into the moss-covered ground and the occasional echo of a drop falling from twisted branches add to the layered textures of sound. Here, silence is not an absence but a space for perception—an invitation to attune to the microcosm of the forest.

Visually, the rain is subtle, catching the light as it refracts through droplets or lingers on the surface of leaves. Mist rises between the ancient trees, ripples form in shallow pools, and the landscape breathes with the rhythm of nature.

This walk is not only an encounter with the forest but with our own listening. How do we perceive the forest’s whispers? How does its rhythm shift our sense of time? Can we hear the history held within each tree, each stone, each gust of wind?

The journey leads to the oldest Torreya tree in Jeju Island—standing 14 meters high, with branches extending 6 meters and a crown width of 15 meters. Over 820 years old, this ancient being has witnessed centuries of rain, wind, and shifting seasons, anchoring the forest in time. Bijarim Forest remains green year-round—a sanctuary of continuity amidst nature’s ever-changing presence.

🎧 Put on your headphones, slow down, and immerse yourself in this sonic journey.
