कच्छप अवतार की महिमा – शास्त्रीय प्रमाण:

1. विष्णु पुराण (भाग 1, अध्याय 9):
"कच्छपतनुं आस्थाय क्षीराब्धिमथनाय वै।
अधराच्चलमुद्धृत्य रत्नानि च समाहरत्॥"

– भगवान विष्णु ने कच्छप रूप धारण कर मंदराचल को अपने पीठ पर स्थिर किया और समुद्र मंथन कराया।

2. पद्म पुराण (उत्तर खंड):
"गंडकी जलसम्भूता शिला या वैष्णवी शुभा।
कच्छपाकारिणी या वा सा पूज्या सर्वसिद्धिदा॥"
– गंडकी नदी से प्राप्त कच्छपाकार शिला, विष्णु का ही रूप मानी गई है और इसकी पूजा सभी सिद्धियाँ देने वाली होती है।

3. गरुड़ पुराण (पूर्व खंड, अध्याय 16):
"शिला रूपेण देवो वै श्रीशालिग्राम मूर्तिमान्।
सर्वदोषहरं पुंसां सर्वसौभाग्यवर्धनम्॥"

– शालिग्राम रूप में भगवान विष्णु स्वयं विराजमान हैं। कच्छप अवतार युक्त शालिग्राम समस्त दोषों को हरने वाला और सौभाग्यवर्धक होता है।

4. देवी भागवत (स्कंध 8):
"कूर्मावतारं प्रबलं विष्णोः स्वरूपमुत्तमम्।
यो धारयामास गिरिं निपातं वारिधौ स्थितम्॥"

– यह कूर्मावतार भगवान विष्णु का महान स्वरूप है जिसने गिरि (मंदराचल) को समुद्र में स्थिर किया।

5. गरुड़ पुराण, (अध्याय 16):
"शिला रूपेण देवो वै श्रीशालिग्राम मूर्तिमान्।
पार्थिवेऽपि च ते तुल्यं नास्ति कश्चन रूपतः॥"

– शालिग्राम शिला के रूप में स्वयं भगवान विराजमान हैं। धरती पर (पार्थिव रूपों में) उनके इस स्वरूप के समान कोई अन्य रूप नहीं है।

3. Garuda Purana (Purva Khanda, Chapter 16):

sarvadoṣaharaṁ puṁsāṁ sarvasaubhāgyavardhanam."
