Mari updated the card. Some things improved, some clearly got cut. Here’s the straight take 👇

✅ What got better

• Zero FX fees on overseas spend ✈️
Previously you paid ~3% FX fee (and get 3% cashback). Now it’s 0% from the start.
This is the biggest real upgrade.

• Overseas cashback is simpler
Now 1.5% cashback on overseas spend, capped at S$1,500 per month.
No more confusing bonus structures 👍

❌ What got nerfed

• Local cashback dropped
Before: 1.7% unlimited
Now: 1.5% unlimited 📉

• Shopee rewards halved
Before: 3% Shopee Coins
Now: 1.5% Shopee Coins via Instant Checkout 🛒
Heavy Shopee users will feel this.

🟰 What stayed the same
• No annual fee
• No minimum spend

My take:
Better for overseas spend (can fight Trust Credit Card), worse for local + Shopee spend.
Comparable to Chocolate VISA Card if you prefer cashback > Max Miles

Bank mortgage rates remain very competitive to end the year.
The gap between HDB and bank loans is still wide, and in my view, increasingly hard to ignore:

📌 Floating from 1.35%
📌 2-year fixed from 1.35%
📌 3-year fixed from 1.40%
Even a 500K loan now starts from 1.45% with selected banks.

For context, on a $500K loan over 20 years, moving from an HDB loan at 2.6% to a bank loan around 1.5% can mean over $2,800 in interest savings per year, on average.

💡 Weekly Tip: Regarding refinancing, I’m positive when the savings are this clear. These are guaranteed interest savings, not market returns. Yes, you cannot switch back to HDB once you move to a bank loan, but staying put also has a cost, and that cost compounds every year.
