My guilty pleasure when responding to comments is using an emoji at the end of every statement. ๐
But are emojis still relevant? ๐

Today I celebrated my 40th birthday. I'm feeling much more confident in myself as I enter this new decade of life. I have a better sense of what's truly important, a clearer understanding of how to navigate life's ups and downs, and a deeper appreciation for the things I have. Some of these are things that my younger self may have taken for granted or not fully appreciated at the time.
Anyway, onward and forward 40. ๐

Recently inherited this 1978 Fuji Sports 10 Bike. Once I make some mods I think this is going to work great for bikepacking along the Little Miami Scenic Trail. Its an old bike but I love the vintage look and giving it a new life on the trail.

Visited Michigan this weekend to see my Dad and his wife. Also, celebrated my big 40th bday while I was up there. These pictures are of Lake Michigan which had turned out to be a beautiful day by the water.

Returned home after a few days at Grayson Highlands. So much to see from Scenic views, wildlife including free roaming ponies, longhorns and more. The trail made me work for the views but it was worth it. On my way out today a group of backpackers told me they had a bear come into camp last night and about took off with one of their backpacks that had rice in it ๐คฃ Fortunately for me I didnt have any bear encounters. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a wilderness adventure.

Been sitting in traffic for last 30 minutes extending the amount of time to get to my destination to Virginia this evening. Eta is 651pm but probably won't be till after 7. Id had plans to backpack a couple miles and setup camp. However, I might need to figure out a car camp for the first night. ๐ค

Me and my son went on a camping trip at New River Gorge, and it was an amazing time together. We hiked a couple of beautiful short trails, cooked a meal over the campfire, and relaxed while enjoying each other's company. My son had so much fun he wants to plan our next trip. ๐

Completed my first big kayak camping trip on the Scioto River 20 miles total! The water wasnโt moving very fast, but it was the perfect opportunity to build experience, learn, and enjoy the journey.
One of the biggest highlights was cooking a real campfire meal: ribeye steak, sweet corn, and eggplant.
Already looking forward to the next river adventure!
