Completed the first 19 miles of the Williamsburg section starting from Grant Lake. Honestly, couldn't have asked for a better day weatherwise. Also, had some company which made the miles go quickly. Im looking forward to getting back out there for a couple nights and finishing it up.

Which piece of backpacking gear do you consider the most important and worth the investment? 🤔

The Cold Hardy Musa Basjoo Banana Trees are off to a great start. Each year they come back thriving. In Ohio each winter I add leaves to add protection from harsh cold and snow. There intensive root system sprouts new banana trees each year. They are a fun plant to grow from a more Tropical feel.

Almost completed the West Union over last few days. When id woke up yesterday morning id started feeling nauseous. Id felt if id just got up and started moving it would stop. Around mile 45 the nausea came back and got sick. I ended up hiking to the shelter 3 miles away and had to be picked up early. 12 miles short of total of 60 miles. Id felt really frustrated and let down. I hate not being able to accomplish the goals I set for myself. A fellow hiker was encouraging and supportive. Having helped me in many ways that was greatly appreciated. Today I do feel better but still struggling with occasional nausea and fatigue. Once I recover I want to pick up where I left and complete the last 12 miles so Il be ready for Williamsburg. Here are a few photos I had taken. I should have a new video of this trip in coming weeks. 😊

New trip upload: A fun overnight trip on the Adena Trace Trail definitely one of my favorite spots. It offers solid mileage, beautiful views of Brookville Lake, plenty of wildlife, and a great overall trail experience. If you’re looking for a quick  overnight trip this is one worth checking out.

Coming up soon, I’ll be doing a full review of the Hydra 3-in-1 Thermal Scope. I’ll be taking it out on a night hike, using it for scouting, and putting it through a complete field test. This is easily one of the coolest pieces of gear I’ve had the opportunity to try, and I’m really looking forward to showing you what it’s capable of in real-world conditions.

Wow. Just wrapped up 56 miles completing the Shawnee section of the Buckeye Trail in 3 days, 2 nights.
Day 1: 14 miles
Day 2: 19 miles
Day 3: 23 miles to finish it out
Saw a ton of wildlife, picked up an unexpected four-legged hiking (7 month old very friendly German Shepherd) partner for half the trip (got her safely back home), and met some great people along the way.
This trail pushed me certainly tested my limits but it was well worth it. Im excited to tackle the next section in a few weeks.
