Never Forget 9/11. Twenty-Five years later, I still think about the courage of the brave men and women on that day; the firefighters running into their fate and the poor souls who were trapped. All who lost their lives, and all families still mourning, we will never forget you.

I have a unique relationship with September 11th, between an extended family - member, Chuck Mendez (Ladder #7), who lost his life through bravery, and my personal experience of that day.

A total of 343 Firefighters ran into hell that day to try their best to save as many poor souls as possible. Chuck Mendez was a FDNY firefighter of Ladder Company #7 who never made it out of the towers that day. He was 38. He was my Dad's cousin's husband, and I never met him, but I think about his bravery, and the bravery of all the firefighters who lost their lives that day.

Obviously, my story doesn't matter, but it always makes me think about how much was impacted globally through terror. My family and I were in Walt Disney World on 9/11. We started at Chef Mickey's (before the first plane had hit), then ended up in Magic Kingdom right around the time that everything started.

My Dad recalls looking around and seeing happy people enjoying the parks as well as people on phone calls crying. We left Magic Kingdom before chaos ensued. Everyone believed it was possible Walt Disney World could be a target. Our flight home was cancelled (obviously), and we had to drive a rental car with 8 people inside all the way back to Philadelphia. My Mom and Aunt sat on the floor the whole drive home.

New York is a wonderful place. I am blessed to have shared 3 great years there. I went for a banking job, and left with a new-found appreciation for this country, it's infrastructure, and the city itself.

As coincidental as it is, I ended up proposing to my fiance on the 102nd floor of the new One World Trade Center (Freedom Tower).
