Madhumalti 🌸🌿 — Nature’s Colour-Changing Fragrant Climber
Madhumalti, scientifically known as Combretum indicum (syn. Quisqualis indica), is a beautiful, fast-growing, and highly fragrant flowering vine. In Hindi, it is popularly known as मधुमालती, while its common English name is Rangoon Creeper.
One of its most fascinating characteristics is its colour-changing flowers. The flowers generally open as white, gradually turn pink, and finally become deep red as they mature. This natural colour transition makes Madhumalti particularly attractive for ornamental gardening and landscape design. 🌸🤍💗❤️
The plant produces clusters of tubular, star-like flowers with a sweet fragrance that becomes especially noticeable during the evening and night. Its vigorous climbing habit makes it suitable for garden arches, pergolas, trellises, fences, walls, balconies, and vertical landscaping.

🌾 Kharif Crops: Understanding India’s Monsoon-Based Agriculture
The Kharif season is closely linked with the arrival of the Southwest Monsoon. These crops are generally sown with the onset of monsoon, mainly during June–July, and harvested according to their crop duration and regional conditions.
🌱 Major Kharif crops include rice, maize, soybean, cotton, groundnut, pulses, sugarcane, jute, sesame and fodder crops, along with several other regionally important crops.
☔ Why are Kharif crops important?
Kharif crops are generally adapted to warm temperatures and higher moisture availability during their growing period. Seasonal rainfall plays an important role in crop establishment and growth, although irrigation requirements vary considerably among crops and regions.
Their importance extends beyond food production:
✅ Contribute to food and nutritional security
✅ Provide raw materials for various industries
✅ Support livestock through fodder production
✅ Generate employment and farm income
✅ Contribute to agricultural diversification
✅ Support rural economies and value chains

The journey was driven by the combined efforts of farmers, agricultural scientists, researchers, institutions, policymakers and entrepreneurs. Improvements in seeds, irrigation, fertilizers, mechanisation, crop protection, livestock production, fisheries, horticulture and agricultural research gradually strengthened the country’s food and farming systems.
