18. Kazi Azul Elliott-Martinez, 10 ♂
- The baby. Named after family friends Uzi and “Miss Blue”. Somewhat dull, struggles to keep up with everyone else, gets special treatment (everyone swears it’s unintentional)

I'm gonna be real with you guys.
I have not felt "inspired" to write ANYTHING in a few weeks. Almost a month now. I knew the burnout from "Integration" was coming, and I tried to power through it with "Disciple" for a bit, but as the holidays crept up, I lost my focus AND my drive. You discord folks have probably noticed my spotty presence on the server, and if I'm being honest, that's not likely to change anytime soon (especially with Christmas and New Year's on the horizon).
That being said...
...inspiration has struck once again.
Granted, it might be temporary, but I finally got that spark back for a short addition to the post-"Integration" series. We're gonna take a VERY tiny peek into Circe's life immediately following the Universal War, and then I'm gonna get back to proofreading ARC 3 and putting together the Society discussion files.
Until then, enjoy a little tidbit from Miss Red's point-of-view.

***PART 3 OF 3***
The other Daughters subsequently introduced themselves in manners equally mundane to 103 and 104: 105 was Clea, the eldest; 106 was Cloey; 107 was Clementine; and 108 was Clover. While each had a different hair colour, eye colour, and even variation of skin tone, they all bore stunning resemblance to one another in terms of facial features thanks to the mother they shared.
“One of these days, we’ll teach you ladies to feel some real emotion,” Sy remarked once the introductions were complete.
“Lack of emotion will enable them to work more efficiently,” STYX-104 retorted. “If they CARED about their mother, they would likely lack the resolve to end her pitiful existence.”
“Correct,” the other Daughters said in unison.
“That’s creepy,” one of the Worker Drones muttered.
“Subjectively,” the other Daughters said in unison.
“Please stop,” the Worker Drone begged.
“Why don’t you go ahead and introduce yourself?” Kali suggested before the Daughters could respond again. “Let’s finish this up quickly.”
“Sure thing.” The Worker Drone tipped his baseball cap and said, “Name’s A-44, or ‘Axel’. I used to be an explorer drone for the company. Went on spaceflight with our very own universal hero Theodore Elliott back in the day, actually. It was uneventful, but at least I can tell my kid I met someone famous.” He laughed, then gestured to the JCJenson spacesuit he was currently wearing and added, “I’ll be our navigator and resident spacecraft technician, and direct anyone involved in maintenance.”
“Remind me to upload Solver Premium to your system,” Kali told him. “I believe you’re supposed to have it for this mission.”
“I’ve got in on a USB in my pocket.” Axel scratched the back of his head. “Kinda nervous to install it, though.”
“Don’t worry. The last I heard, JCJenson smoothed out the integration process, so no ‘awakening’ or metamorphosis will be involved.” Kali motioned to Mia. “Your turn.”
“Hi, everyone!” Mia waved at her teammates with both hands. “I’m Mia Odintsov! I’ll be involved in all things technology-related, AND I’ll be your ‘guy in the chair’ for anyone in the field! With my eyes in the sky”—she gestured to her stingbots, who fluttered into the air over her shoulders and flew around her head—“I’ll be able to keep tabs on everyone! For the most part, I mean,” she added with a sheepish grin. “I only have two, after all.”
“Bug!” I-899 suddenly raged, running directly toward Mia.
A chain exploded out of Kali’s back and wrapped around I-899, holding her firm while the All-PHA ran in place. “Next?” she grumbled, tossing I-899 into a chair and whacking her on the head with the end of the chain.
“You may call me ‘Miss Violet’,” the third Worker Drone, one wearing a purple suit and wig, said with a slight nod of her head. “I am a Perfect Solver user, formerly the shell for Miss Red and Miss Blue—so as you can imagine, I have quite the wealth of experience and knowledge stored in my OS. Vinnie and I will be operating in similar capacities, but I will additionally serve as a mouthpiece for Director Parsons on occasion.” She smirked as the Perfect Solver symbol flashed in one eye, adding, “Think of me as the director’s physical stand-in for this assignment.”
“How did you acquire the knowledge that Circe and Malie possessed when they were using you?” Kali asked curiously.
“Residual cybershade effect,” Miss Violet explained. “A metadigital phenomenon that involves the copying of consciousness and memory within cyberspace. Essentially, Parsons and Lau left behind shadows of themselves within my mainframe, and these shadows later fused to form a new OS.”
“So… you’re basically Circe’s AI and Malie’s CyberSoul smushed together?” Gorge asked with a frown.
“In a… FADED sense, yes,” Miss Violet confirmed.
“Oh. …Cool.”
“Thank you.”
“And then there was one,” Kali said turning to the last Worker Drone—who, evidently, was actually a 1st Generation Disassembly Drone. “Close us out, if you don’t mind.”
The pink-haired drone gave her a crooked grin in response. “Serial Designation: S,” she sneered. “I’m your ‘Benny’.”
Kali’s expression immediately shifted into a darker one at the discourteous invocation of her fallen comrade’s name. “What’s THAT supposed to mean?”
“It means I shoot first and ask questions later,” S replied in a bragging tone. “I run fast, hot, and loud! You ever need someone to barge in somewhere and just start blowing [expletive] up? I’m your gal!” She shifted her hands into miniguns, laughing maniacally as she spun them up.
“Weren’t you decommissioned by Cyn for killing other Disassembly Drones?” Kali inquired, pulling one of the dossiers out of her bag and flipping through it.
“Yeah, she couldn’t really control me all too well,” S replied flippantly, waving one of her hands in a dismissive gesture (and causing the Worker Drones to lean away from her). “This new admin’s leash is WAAYYYYY tighter, though. Kinda sucks.”
“So… why were you…?”
“I’unno. It was fun. Think I got like a hundred and fifty in total before Cyn shut me down.” S shifted her hand into a claw and picked at her teeth. “Think you can get me a shot at Dahmer? I’ll add her to my personal corpse spire.”
“Hey! That isn’t even funny, dude!” Axel snapped at her. “My original family was put in one of those spires when the war first started!”
“Oh, come on. That was, like, 20 years ago,” S snorted, rolling her eyes. “Get over it.”
“How about we get back to the point?” STYX-104 suggested as Miss Violet quickly grabbed Axel’s arms, holding him back from S. “The mission is our main focus, not petty squabbles.” He/She turned to Kali and gestured to her with a hand. “Take it away, fellow Voidborn.”
“Gladly.” Kali took a Minibug out of her pocket and placed it on the ground, allowing it to project a hologram into the air in the midst of the team. “It’s time we discussed our mission… and our target,” she announced at last.
The hologram of Cleo Dahmer spun slowly in the air, her face frozen in a cruel smirk.

***PART 2 OF 3***
“This is HIGHLY unprofessional, Aimes,” STYX-104 muttered as the Daughter led the way into the abode, examining its interior. “Could we not have met at a facility, or at least on company grounds?”
“What’s the matter? Claustrophobic?” Sinistra asked sarcastically before throwing herself onto an unoccupied loveseat.
“Anyone would be with all these people in here,” one of the All-PHAs remarked, shooting 106 a look as she bumped his shoulder. “Uh, S-626,” he introduced himself to Kali, extending a hand for her shake. “Call me ‘Sy’. Programmed for mechanic work. I’ll be your fixer.”
“I know. I read your file.” Kali smiled and shook Sy’s hand. “This is more of a teambuilding exercise.” She glanced at his shoulder, noticing a faded sticker. “Hey… what do you know about Lilo & Stitch?” she asked with a smirk. “Aren’t you a little young for that?”
Sy laughed. “Yeah, uh, just a thousand years late or so, I guess,” he admitted. “One of the old Cubics gave it to me during the war. She said my name reminded her of the little blue guy, so… I got a matching paint job and put this sticker on over it. Gives me more personality, y’know?”
“Personality, huh?” One of the Worker Drones jerked a thumb at the other Daughters. “If you’ve got any to spare, I think THOSE guys could use some.”
The Daughters stared at her blankly.
“So you’re the boss for this mission?” another Worker Drone—the excitable one, Kali noted—asked, hurrying over to her and shaking the agent’s hand with both of hers as her one functional eye flickered sporadically. “That’s so cool! My name’s Mia Odintsov; I’m your tech gal!” She gestured to two keybugs that had crawled atop her shoulders and added, “These are Huginn and Muninn. They’re my assistants!”
“Nice to meet you. All three of you.” Kali glanced at the black keybugs, which she realized were actually winged stingbots upon further inspection. “You got a license for those, by the way?”
“Special allowance,” Mia clarified proudly. “Director’s orders.”
“Head?”
“Nope. Parsons by proxy.”
“Ah. Lau, then.”
“Yup!”
“Interesting.” Kali motioned to a chair and told Mia, “Take a seat, Mia. Let me round everyone up and—HEY!” she suddenly barked, shooting a glare at another All-PHA currently searching through her kitchen. “What are you doing?”
The All-PHA turned her head around 360 degrees, her face obscured by a wide-brimmed black hat, a pair of tinted goggles, and a bulky mask. She stood up slowly, rotating each jointed part of her body in turn so that she was facing Kali again, and stated, “Examining premises for observation devices. One found.” She held up a hand, revealing a small dark-coloured object pinched beneath two fingers.
Kali stormed over to her and snatched the object away. “This is a RAISIN,” she snapped, holding it up to the drone’s face.
The All-PHA raised her goggles with a hand, squinting at it. “Curious,” she remarked.
Kali scowled. “You’re the new investigative model, right? I-899?”
“Correct,” the All-PHA responded. “Production analysis: faulty programming. Fixing. Fixing.” She lowered her goggles again and went back to crawling around, searching for more bugs.
“I was wondering why you were assigned to this team,” Kali grumbled. “Please don’t tell me Tessa was serious when she put ‘comedic relief’ on the dossier.”
“Directorial humour. Very amusing.” I-899 straightened up on her knees, putting her hands on her hips. “New learning feature installed. Putting it to work. Test dummy.”
“Test dummy,” Kali echoed. “Right.” She sighed and turned around, heading back into the living room. “Okay, everyone,” she began, raising her voice so everyone could hear her, “let’s get this show on the road. We’re going to introduce ourselves to each other and get a good sense of what we’re working with chemistry-wise, then discuss the mission and our initial approach. Sound good?”
“You have any food?” Dextro croaked in response, sitting next to Sinistra and throwing an arm around her shoulders.
“No.” Kali looked around at the people still standing and gestured to the many chairs and couches around the house. “Make yourselves comfortable.”
The Daughters seated themselves without a word, while STYX-104 muttered something under his/her breath before sitting in a slouched position with his/her arms crossed. Most of the All-PHAs and Worker Drones sat as well, while I-899 continued to scour the kitchen.
“So, what—is this supposed to be an AA meeting or something?” Sinistra asked. “Should we go around in a circle and say our names?”
“Great idea,” Kali declared, ignoring the obvious sarcasm in Sinistra’s tone. “I’ll go first.” Then she placed a hand on her chest and said, “I am Agent Kali Aimes, codenamed ‘Subject 12’. I’ve been around for almost eleven hundred years, I have ten times that many missions under my belt, and I’m looking forward to getting this over and done with so I can finally retire.”
“Hi, Kali!” Mia said cheerfully, waving. “Oh, come on, guys!” she added a second later in a hiss, looking around the room. “We’re supposed to say it TOGETHER!”
“That’s alright, they don’t have to—”
“Hi, Kali,” the others in the room chorused reluctantly, interrupting Kali and making her visibly cringe.
The agent sighed and rubbed her face with a hand. “Okay. Next,” she said, waving a hand at the person to her left.
“G-142,” the hulking, modified All-PHA grunted. “They call me ‘Gorge’. I worked in a quarry, and a couple a’ mines. I’ll be your demo guy.”
“Hi, Go—”
“Stop that!” Kali snapped, interrupting the group.
“I’m S-626,” Sy introduced himself. “I go by ‘Sy’, or ‘Stitch’ if you wanna get a laugh outta me. I fought alongside Agent Aimes’s allies in the war”—he gestured to Kali—“and I’m honoured to have the chance to serve alongside her now. I don’t really have a specialization, but I’m programmed for combat and managed to survive the [NULL] SET, so I’ll count that as at least 10 years of experience.” He chuckled a bit, expecting the others to laugh; when they didn’t, his chuckle faded awkwardly and he mumbled something inaudible, rubbing an arm.
“I’m V-127,” a third All-PHA stated after a beat, standing and saluting to Kali before returning to her seat. “I do not officially have an assigned name, but my owners call me ‘Vinnie’. I am programmed for housekeeping, but had strategic programming installed for this assignment. I will be working closely with Director Parsons and CS1 to advise you during the mission.”
“Who’s CS1?” Mia whispered loudly to a drone next to her.
“Malie Lau,” Kali responded before the other drone could. “CyberSoul 1.” She nodded to V-127, adding, “Thank you, Vinnie. Next?”
“I-899,” the last All-PHA suddenly blurted, lunging into the living room and shattering a small table next to Dextro and Sinistra (both of whom jumped in surprise) with her knee. “Investigator. I will hunt Dahmer and bring her to justice. Such is the job of I-899. Investigation. Justice.” She pointed jerkily at a shard of glass on the floor. “Bug?” she inquired, looking at Kali expectantly.
“No,” Kali replied wearily. “Next.”
“…Uh… Haze Borden,” Sinistra said, eyeing I-899 warily. “God bearer. I fought in the war against [NULL], too—and I’ve worked with 104 and STYX before, so we should get along pretty well.”
“As long as our goals remain entwined, so will we,” STYX-104 responded with a leering grin.
Sinistra shrugged. “Fair enough.” She glanced at Dextro. “John?”
Dextro grunted. “John Matthews,” he rasped. “Broken Solver. Copy-paste Haze’s intro.”
“Wow, you sure are talkative, huh?” Mia remarked with a cheeky grin.
“He’s been through a lot,” Sinistra snapped. “Leave him alone.”
“Sorry! Just kidding!” Mia replied innocently, raising her hands quickly.
Dextro narrowed his eyes at her.
“Subject 103,” the first of the Daughters said in a hollow voice. “First Class god bearer. Name: Clarice Dahmer. Age: 1,064. Veteran of the Universal War.”
A short silence fell over the room.
Then Kali said, “Uh… very… precise. Thank you, Clarice.”
Subject 103 nodded once. “You are welcome, Mission Leader.” She turned toward STYX-104, as if encouraging him/her to introduce himself/herself.
STYX-104—or Subject 104, rather—silently held up her hand, on which a keybug sat. It projected several holographic words and numbers in sequence: “Subject 104”, “1st Class GB”, “Claire Dahmer”, “1066”, “Veteran of Universal War”, “shard”, “Voi-Kah’ni branch”.
“Kind of sad you never told me you had a name until now, but thanks nonetheless,” Kali responded with a slight smile. “And since you’re introducing yourself, STYX might as well go next.” She gestured toward 104 with a hand.
STYX-104’s expression instantly changed from 104’s bright-eyed curious one to STYX’s usual scowl as he/she pocketed the keybug. “My true name is not translatable in your languages,” he grumbled. “But you may call me STYX. I am presumably the last of the Voi-Kah’ni, although, based on recent discoveries, that may not truly be the case. I am here for Dahmer’s head, and nothing else. Do NOT attempt to ‘make friends’ with me. I will not entertain such efforts.”
“Is that a challenge?” Mia asked excitedly.
“That is a WARNING,” STYX-104 snarled, shooting her an annoyed look.
Mia’s face took on a mischievous expression, and she rubbed her hands together evilly.
