The Analyse Podcast, formerly Analyse Asia, is the premier video and audio show exploring the intersections of business, technology, and media from a global perspective. Originating in Asia, it now connects insights from around the world — showcasing voices shaping innovation, markets, and culture. Each episode dives deep with guests who bring real-world expertise from their respective regions and industries. The show spotlights three lenses: (1) pundits and correspondents analysing global trends, (2) business leaders operating at the frontlines of technology and media, and (3) thought leaders and investors redefining how companies build, scale, and lead in the age of AI. The Analyse Podcast — from Asia, for the world.

Analyse Podcast

Last week, our founder Bernard Leong did an early recording with Sapna Chadha from Google, Florian Hoppe from Bain & Company & Cassie Wu from Temasek to talk about the special 10th anniversary of the #eConomySEA2025 report, where we break down the key topics on how the digital ecosystem in Southeast Asia have evolved over the past decade. This is the 2nd time, we have done this together in the YouTube studio provided by Google. The episode will be coming out on this Wednesday morning and so watch this space.

Recently, our host ‪@BernardLeong‬ got a quick invitation to go on ‪@TheGeneralistsPodcast‬ for the 2nd time to talk about AI based on the Cisco AI report 2025, where we examined various aspects of the report. Of course, Raz Kotler and Michael Smith Jr. are great hosts and we explore the following data points which are similar to different reports out there about AI productivity:

1/ Only 13% of companies, called Pacesetters, consistently extract measurable value from AI because they treat readiness as a systemic, continuous discipline, not a project milestone.

2/ These firms are 4× more likely to move AI pilots into production and 1.5× (50%) more likely to report measurable ROI compared to their peers.

3/ AI Infrastructure Debt: The Hidden Drag - 64% of the companies cannot centralize data for AI access, even with the advance of MCP where there is a lot to be done on security.

The Next Unicorn Might Be Built by One Person — With AI as Their Co-Founder

Our next episode features Arnaud Frade, author of an upcoming book, "The Sentient Startup" which will be published by Penguin Random House in April 2026, with the tagline "AI as your co-founder".

"Sam Altman has this throwaway comment, he says, you know, my buddy and I in Silicon Valley, were betting on who's going to be the first solopreneur to build a unicorn thanks to ChatGPT. To me that was really the epiphany. That was the moment where I thought, yeah, this is exactly what I've tried to crystallize for all these years, where I'm thinking about how do you build businesses when you balance the power of the human mind and the power of humans with the right technology." - Arnaud Frade on how he came to write this book

Analyse Podcast

Recently, our founder Bernard Leong @bleongcw have the honour of having Ralph Haupter, President and CRO, Small Medium Enterprises and Channel (SME&C) from Microsoft on post-episode 500, who shared 20+ years of wisdom spanning 56 countries—from running Greater China to building Asia's operations to now leading global SME strategy. It is one of the rare interviews where I can get the insights from an experienced and tenured executive.

One question I asked changed my entire perspective: "What's one thing you know about enabling SMEs that very few do?"

Ralph's answer: Focused Specialization + Complete Platform Integration.

While others see these as contradictory, Microsoft embraces both. Partners specialize deeply (security, data fabric, AI agents), but customers get a complete stack. No four different vendors, four different meetings, four different coffees.

The part that resonated most with my own experience as both a former CIO and small business owner? The pit stop metaphor.

Your tech stack isn't about having the fastest single component. It's about how quickly and seamlessly everything works together when you need it most—during a security incident, a scaling challenge, or an AI transformation.

Here's the BTS photo after our recording. Many thanks to Gustavo Fuchs who offered me the opportunity to do this and Borko Kovacevic from Poddster Singapore

This episode will drop immediately at the start of a new era after the publication of Episode 500 of Analyse Asia (which we will have a major announcement) next week. Watch this space!

Analyse Podcast

This morning, as our host, ‪@BernardLeong‬ returned home to Singapore from Dubai, we received a special surprise: Analyse Asia has been awarded the YouTube Silver Creator Award for surpassing 100,000 subscribers on our video channel!

What began over 10 years ago as a podcast in audio form has grown into a thriving video presence—thanks to the unwavering support from our community, listeners, and viewers across Asia and beyond. The last two years on YouTube have been a learning curve, but a fulfilling one.

We're deeply grateful for this recognition—but we’re not stopping here. The next goal? 1 million subscribers.

To those who believed the odds were against us—whether due to how we sound, where we come from, or how we started—thank you for the motivation. Your doubts fuelled our persistence.

We’re taking a short moment to celebrate, but as always, we’re focused on what comes next. Stay tuned. The best is yet to come.

Analyse Podcast

Thank you all for your support! We hit 100,000 subscribers on the weekend of 26-27 April 2025!

Over our last 10 years, we have worked hard and remained to be the top Asia Pacific podcast on business, technology and media in Asia. We were the first and pioneer podcast and we remained to be the one that everyone wants to challenge. But podcasting, unlike news portals, is not a zero sum game. The more competitors, the better for us.

We hit two major milestones in the month of April 2025:

The first milestone is that we started pivoting to video in end 2022, and within 3 years, we have hit 100K subscribers in our YouTube channel. That is half the time which we did in achieving our 1st million in 5 years. The growth is mainly driven by the main videos but short clips that gave us audience which audio could not have achieved.

The next milestone is hitting at 6M downloads, plays and streams within 9 months. We took a more conservative view and take only unique views and of course, the actual numbers are much higher if I include the short video clips.

We want to see if we can now go for the 1M subscribers mark for YouTube moving ahead.

It remains Day 1 for the #podcast.
