The film is entirely independently made with no broadcaster, or big backers. It's been done entirely DIY, over 7 years starting from zero budget and music and licensing costs were extraordinarily expensive to cover news and commercial archive and music tracks - running into eye watering amounts that the team had to front or find - let alone the cost of making the film, editing and filming over a 4 year period all across Europe. The streaming platforms charge between 25%-50% for each stream and a portion of the profit will go towards money for Refugee Community Kitchen as well as the archive contributors and the filmmakers future projects. Films such as these are increasingly unlikely to be ever made due to the commercial nature of the film industry - so by supporting this film with a modest rental you are also supporting independent film. The filmmaking team are very thankful of all the amazing support being received and hopefully - that support - can enable future films about underground stories such as this to happen.
The film has had a long and interesting life... its first public screening - its premiere at Hackney's Rio cinema - was in October 2023 at Doc N Roll film festival - where it won two awards the audience award and the jury special mention award. What a start!! We went on to screen in the UK as part of Doc N Roll over 30 times that winter!
