It’s an incredible honor to be recognized by ‪@TIME‬ on their TIME100 list as an Icon in Sports alongside so many inspiring people.

To be honest, recognition like this always feels a little surreal. Even after all these years, there’s still a part of me that wonders, “Is this real?”

I’ve been fortunate enough to stand on top of the podium 121 times on the world stage, and I can honestly say it has never felt routine. Maybe from the outside, repeated success can start to look ordinary. Maybe that’s why some people call it boring. But from the inside, it’s anything but.

I still care deeply. I still get nervous. I’m still motivated to improve. I’m still chasing the perfect turn.

What means the most to me is being able to use the opportunities this sport has given me…not only to pursue excellence in skiing, but also to support causes I care about (like Share Winter Foundation) and hopefully make a positive impact along the way.

And none of it happens alone.

I’m endlessly grateful for my family, coaches, teammates, sponsors, friends, and all of you who have supported me through every high and low. Thank you for being part of this journey.

What's the Point?
I’ve been asking that question a lot lately—in life, on my podcast—the exploration continues, and it may never end! But one thing is absolute, this is a huge part of it. Winning, if you can’t share it, means nothing. Winning for others, WITH others, is everything. It’s for my team. For the future of snow sports. For this incredible community.

Not many things can compete with listening to 30 girls and young women giggle with excitement following a day on the mountain, and getting to giggle with them, thanks to Share Winter Foundation and ‪@Oakley‬.

Days like Saturday reinvigorate my love and passion for the sport. It brings me back to when I was nine. It’s so far beyond “simply” skiing…it’s about being outside with your friends, moving your body, building each other up, finding passion in something and having an opportunity to explore that. A big goal of mine is to get more kids on snow and keep them there.

Through my work with Share Winter, we’ve raised nearly $500,000, supporting about 1,000 young skiers and riders. Making an impact isn’t just about results. It’s about paving a path for the next generation to have the same opportunities.

Together, we’re aiming to increase the goal. Next up: $1 million.

I won!

I got there, in the face of fear and adrenaline and the potential for criticism and backlash from people who know nothing and don’t even try to understand.

I won.

I stood in the start gate, and looked out at the mountain and the course ahead and my heartbeat nearly fell out of my butt. Still, when the countdown started, I pushed. I pushed to chase, I pushed to earn. I pushed to dare and to dream. I pushed to believe.

I won.

I questioned all that I’ve learned in life, multiple times this week. I questioned what kind of grit I have in my heart and I wondered if I should be doing this at all. I questioned my toughness and tenacity. I questioned it all. And then I left those questions behind, and stepped into the arena anyway.

I won.

I learned and grew with my team. We have communicated and stood strong for each other. They have stood strong for me. In knowing what we would expose ourselves to on this path, in knowing what demands would lie ahead—they still chose to show up with me. They choose that every day.

I won.

I looked around at all of my peers and competitors. I wondered if they too felt this way. I felt a short moment of resentment… why do you all have to be so damn good at this too? Why can’t it be easier? And then, I felt immense appreciation. Thank you for pushing me. Thank you for always being kind and understanding and fierce and strong. Thank you for either leading the way, or following right behind, so that we, together, can break barriers and raise the level of our sport.

I won. I fucking won. This, right here, is the lottery and I won.

Oh, and I got a medal too.
