The Soulful Past

Another Week & We Are Still Standing Strong

First and foremost, all honor and glory to God — without Him, none of this would be possible. I want to thank our new subscribers for joining our family, and to thank all of you who have stood with us from the beginning for holding strong through this journey.

I see God’s blessings every day, not just in my own life, but through each of your comments and testimonials. It’s hard to put into words the emotions I feel for all of you. I’ve smiled and worshiped with you when your stories are filled with God’s blessings, and I’ve cried with you when I hear of your sorrow, loss, and pain.

This week alone, three times I’ve received messages from people who have experienced loss, and who shared that our music has given them hope, love, and comfort through their sorrow. Truly, I never intended for this channel to accomplish more than sharing lyrics and music so my grandchildren could have a reminder of their “Pop Pop” when my time comes. I could never have imagined how many lives it would touch.

I thank God every single day for everything in my life, and I pray that He continues to use me as His vessel — to reach someone’s soul, bring them closer to Him, and share His love through music.

From my heart to yours, thank you for being a part of this journey. 💛

I also want to take a moment to wish my wonderful wife a happy 26th wedding anniversary. I love you more than words can express, and I thank you for standing beside me through the best of times and the most challenging moments. Your love, patience, and faithfulness have been a blessing beyond measure.💛💛💛

This Week's Inspiration: “Jesus Stepped In”

This week, we poured our hearts into a song that’s meant to touch yours. “Jesus Stepped In” was created to remind everyone that no matter how heavy life feels, no problem is too big for Him. Our lead vocalist brings the testimony to life with every moan, cry, and heartfelt note — a personal story of hope and deliverance — while the quartet stays soft and smooth, wrapping the song in warm, soulful harmony.

Every verse is a reminder: in your darkest hour, in the valley of despair, He is there. Verse 3 stands alone as a moment of raw, personal power — a place for your spirit to connect deeply with God.

This is more than music; it’s a living testimony. Let it inspire, comfort, and remind you that Jesus always steps in.

The Soulful Past

My Family, I Thank You

I would like to extend my deepest gratitude and a warm welcome to all new subscribers. The support, encouragement, and expressions of love I have received over the past week have been both uplifting and humbling. Your words have truly been a blessing.

This week, I was challenged by some comments regarding the use of AI voices in the songs I write. At first, those remarks caused me to question whether I was doing something wrong or unintentionally misleading others. My purpose has always been clear: to share the message of Jesus through the lyrics He places on my heart.

In seeking clarity, I turned to prayer and asked God to guide me. Almost immediately, He provided an unmistakable answer. For nearly two hours, I began receiving an outpouring of positive comments and messages of encouragement, accompanied by a remarkable increase in subscribers.

Here are just a few of the many responses that touched me:

@WARD5KUSTOMZ – “My ears and heart have been blessed.”

@LucilleLong-x5h – “This touched me straight to the core of my soul. Thank you. I needed to hear this. Amen.”

@glorianottingham280 – “Thank you for the rendition of ‘God is in Charge.’ It covers many areas and is uplifting, because God is in charge. Thanks again and continue to share more selections of uplifting gospel and spiritual songs. Blessed to serve God!”

However, it was one private comment that truly affirmed God’s direction. I will not disclose the individual’s name or exact words, but they shared that they had been moments away from ending their life. While riding the bus, they heard one of our songs playing on another passenger’s cellphone, and that moment gave them hope to continue.

There are no words to fully capture the weight of that testimony. I can say only this: Thank You, Jesus. Thank You, Lord. Wrap this person in Your loving arms, Father, and keep them safe. In Jesus’ Name I pray.

To all who listen, comment, and support this ministry of music—thank you for being part of this journey. Your encouragement affirms the mission to spread God’s message through song, and I am truly honored to serve Him in this way.

Answering Your Questions

Several of you have asked about the inspiration behind my songs, and I want to share a little of my story. Yes, many of my lyrics are drawn directly from real experiences in my life. For example, when you hear me sing about Washington, D.C., that is where I was raised. My spiritual foundation was built at Holy Way Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Smith, my pastor. My father served as head deacon, my aunt as assistant pastor, my mother sang in the choir, and my uncle was head usher. Needless to say, my brothers and I were always kept in line.

We grew up serving through music. My brothers and I often sang with Reverend Smith during his speaking engagements, and as I grew older, I sang and played bass guitar with The Sensational Evening Stars and later with The Mighty Shepherds of Joy.

This upbringing shaped the way I write and perform music today. Many have noticed that my songs often lean toward deep cries, moans, and soulful expressions rather than faster, upbeat rhythms. That is because I was taught and raised to believe that lyrics are just words if they are not felt within the soul. For me, the music must carry both heart and spirit.

That said, I do plan to include more upbeat songs in the future while still keeping the soul and message at the center of everything I create.

In Closing

Once again—and I cannot say this enough—thank you, family, for your unwavering support and for the many kind words you continue to share. I understand that not everything I post, whether music or commentary, will resonate with everyone. Even so, please believe me when I say this: I will always put God first in everything I do, and I will always give this process 100% dedication.

With your continued prayers and encouragement, I look forward to walking this journey together as we lift up the name of Jesus through music and testimony.

The Soulful Past

Thank You for Being Part of This Journey

WOW… thank you for almost 1,000 subscribers! I never imagined my music would touch so many hearts, spirits, and souls. When I first started this channel, it was simply to share the lyrics God had placed on my heart over the years. But through His guidance, it has grown into so much more — a place of music, daily devotion, spiritual encouragement, testimonies, and prayer.

This channel has become more than just a platform… it’s becoming part of my family. ❤️ I truly believe this is a community God has brought together. That’s why I make it a priority to read every comment. Whether you're sharing encouragement, your story, or even your pain, I feel it. Many times, I’ve sat with tears streaming down my face as I read your words. And when I reply, I don’t take it lightly — I often stop to pray and ask God for the right words to pour back into you.

👶✨ For those with little ones, please be sure to check out our Made for Kids channel: God’s Little Lights [@Godlittlelights]. It’s just like this channel, but designed so children can rejoice and learn about God in a way that speaks to them. I don’t post daily there, but I do try to share a new song every week. When it comes to the kids, I want to make sure every message is spot-on — and I pray you’ll agree as parents. From fun songs for little ones to uplifting messages for pre-teens, there’s something for every child to enjoy!

Your time, your support, and your hearts mean everything. Thank you for walking this journey with me. May this space always be one where God’s love and presence can be felt deeply. 🙏✨

Heartfelt Thanks to All of You

I am deeply grateful for each and every one of you who has supported me on this journey. Your encouragement, likes, and celebration of my music mean more than words can express. I am truly honored to have reached over 100 subscribers and to share in the stories of how God has touched your lives.

I would like to offer a special thank you to @bobbycutchins for his kind words of encouragement and for sharing “God is in Charge” on Facebook. @phyllisphillips4847, your comment on “Holding On” about your motto, “I dare you… to Trust God,” deeply inspired me, and I even adopted it as a song title. I am also grateful to @nicolejboone4115 for her heartfelt and touching comment on “I've Been in the Storm Too Long Lord.”

Thank you all once again. I pray that God continues to shine His light upon each of us, guiding us in faith, hope, and love. May we continue to grow together in His grace.

With gratitude and blessings,

I wanted to take this time to say thank you. My name is Ken and I am a disabled veteran from the Gulf War era and I am finally at a point in my life where I can write my story into the lyrics of my songs.

I am trying to sample different genres so if you like or dislike anything please do not hesitate to let me know in the comments below the videos. This way I can concentrate on what music you guys want to hear.

I look forward to hearing from you all and I hope that one of my songs will touch someone that really needs it. Thank you again and God Bless
