There have been reports of slower than expected charging speeds on U.S. built Model Y Performance vehicles

• The new Model Y Performance uses a Panasonic 2170 battery cell produced at Panasonic’s Kansas factory, internally referred to as 21VB
• Since this is a brand-new cell, Tesla is initially using a more conservative charging curve
• Charging performance is expected to improve over time as Tesla refines the charging curve through software updates
• The 21VB cell is planned for wider deployment across Tesla’s vehicle lineup in the future

Tesla has reported 52 million Supercharger charging sessions in Q4 2025, a 29% year-over-year increase. That works out to an average of more than 565,000 charging sessions per day.

The company also revealed that the Tesla Diner received over 83,000 orders of fries during the quarter, generating approximately $373,000 in revenue.
