🌍 Strengthening Caribbean Labour Solidarity: The Upcoming CCL Triennial Delegates’ Congress
As we prepare for the next Triennial Delegates’ Congress of the Caribbean Congress of Labour (CCL), we honour our rich legacy of collective action and leadership—the very spirit captured in this historic photo from the 1980s.
The Congress remains the supreme authority of the CCL, bringing together delegates from trade union affiliates across the Caribbean to shape policy, strengthen regional solidarity, and chart the strategic direction of the movement for the next three years.
🔹 Who Attends? Delegates are elected from each affiliated organisation based on their paid-up membership—ensuring proportional representation and a strong democratic mandate. Observers from fraternal organisations and invited guests also enrich the discussions.
🔹 What Happens at Congress? Over several days, delegates: • Review and approve activity and financial reports • Debate and adopt motions and resolutions • Shape the CCL’s programme for the next three years • Consider amendments to the Constitution • Elect the leadership that will guide the movement forward
🔹 Why It Matters The Congress reinforces transparency, accountability, and participatory governance—cornerstones of the Caribbean labour movement. Affiliates exercise their rights, set affiliation fees, consider levies, and ensure that collective decisions align with the needs of workers across the region.
🔹 Upholding Good Governance All affiliated organisations must be financially up to date to enjoy full participation, consistent with the CCL’s commitment to responsible stewardship and democratic practice.
