Thank you for reading my newsletter. Thank you for considering my views on the world we live in and how you can be more successful in your leadership role.
This is Thanksgiving week. Yes, we live in a turbulent time. The world and our lives are far from perfect. But, we are blessed in many ways.
I am pausing this week to give thanks for the blessings in my life and the wonderful people who make my life worth living.
I am thanking my close friends and family who accept me for who I am.
I am thanking my work colleagues and collaborators who enable me to share my thinking with you.
I am thanking Andy, the bartender who knows my favorite cocktail, the launch drivers who get me off my sailboat CHARIAD whatever the weather, Chris, my barber who cuts the little hair I have so I am ready to go on the next podcast.
I am thanking Kim, Mitch, Glenda, and Tyler who enable me to speak with you and many others.
I am thanking the wonderful team members who sail with me on CHARIAD and enable me to go sailing.
I hope you will take a moment to think about the blessings in your life. You will find yourself more centered on who you are and what is important to you.
What is different about great leaders? What makes them successful?
Partners with McKinsey & Company interviewed top global leaders and compiled their findings in a new book, A CEO for All Seasons. The authors of the book are Carolyn Dewar, Kurt Strovink, Scott Keller & Vikram Malhotra.
The most successful leaders have strong convictions and a vision of the future.
They are open to learning from others and hearing feedback.
They build trust within their team and are willing to change direction.
In my latest newsletter, I discuss the importance of these findings and connect them to the leadership and decision-making practices in my book, Create the Future.
The McKinsey study gives you the characteristics of great leaders. Create the Future gives you tools and practical steps you can use every day to become a more successful leader.
