My name is Mohamed Hussein, an English-speaking tour guide. Through my channel, I share Egyptโs rich history, breathtaking landmarks, and fascinating museums, bringing you the very best this country has to offer.
A rare detail most people miss about the White Crown ๐ The Hedjet, the white crown of Upper Egypt, is often believed to have been made from ivory (elephant tusk) due to its smooth white appearance, though this material is still debated among scholars since no physical crown has survived. Its tall, elegant form symbolized royal authority and divine kingship and was closely associated with Horus and the rulers of the south. Do you think ivory was the most likely material, or could it have been something else? ๐ค๐ฆ
This carving comes from a granite sarcophagus, likely dating to the Late Period or the Greco-Roman era. What stands out is the human figure lying face down, an unusual posture in funerary art, with what appears to be a flame or fire element placed in front of it.
This is not a scene of fire worship. Instead, it reflects purely Egyptian religious symbolism. In late funerary beliefs, fire often represents purification, divine power, protection, or a trial the deceased must pass through before rebirth. The simplified composition, focused on a single strong symbol, is typical of later periods while still preserving ancient Egyptian theology.
Do you see the fire here as protection or as a test? ๐ค๐ฅ
This fascinating relief comes from the tomb of Kagemni (Saqqara, Sixth Dynasty โ Old Kingdom). It shows a hyena being carefully fed and restrained by a keeper โ a glimpse into animal management and daily life over 4,000 years ago.
Far from ritual or symbolic, this scene reveals the practical side of Egyptian life, where even dangerous animals like hyenas were captured and cared for.
Did you know a colossal statue can tell a family story? This is the statue of King Ramesses II at the Grand Egyptian Museum. On the leg of the statue, we can clearly see a carved figure of his daughter Bintanath, one of his most prominent daughters. Her presence on such a monumental statue reflects her high status and shows how ancient Egyptian art recorded family ties, not just victories ๐๐ฟ
Why do you think Ramesses II chose to immortalize his daughters on his statues? ๐คโจ
These magnificent cobras โ known as Wadjet, the protective goddess of Lower Egypt โ line the walls of King Djoserโs Funerary Complex at Saqqara.
Each cobra symbolizes divine protection, standing watch over the Step Pyramid, the oldest stone pyramid in the world, built during Egyptโs 3rd Dynasty by the genius architect Imhotep.
Their presence wasnโt just decoration โ they were spiritual guardians, warding off evil and ensuring the kingโs eternal safety in the afterlife.
โจ What do you think โ were these cobras seen as symbols of power, or protectors of the divine king?
A happy new year to us โจ May everyone who dreamed of something last year achieve it and see it come true in 2026 ๐ค May the beautiful moments that lit up our days always stay in the heart ๐
Have you ever seen a motherโs love carved in stone 4,500 years ago? This rare double statue shows Queen Meresankh III standing beside her mother, Queen Hetepheres II, inside Meresankhโs tomb at Giza. Such an intimate family scene is unusual in Old Kingdom art and reflects the high status of royal women. Meresankh III was the granddaughter of Khufu, daughter of Prince Kawab, and is widely believed to have been the Great Royal Wife of King Khafre. She held powerful titles like โKingโs Daughter of His Bodyโ and โGreat Wife of the King.โ Her tomb (G 7530โ7540) is one of the finest of the pyramid age, filled with elegant reliefs that highlight her political and religious importance. ๐ฟโจ Which detail about Meresankh III or this statue impressed you the most? ๐ค

๐ฅ Ever wondered what the crown of Lower Egypt looked like? Meet the Deshret, the iconic red crown of Lower Egypt.
This striking crown, worn by pharaohs, symbolized power and authority over the Nile Delta. Its distinctive tall, rectangular shape with a forward-curving tip made it instantly recognizable in ancient Egyptian art. Although no original crown has survived, depictions suggest it was likely made of copper, leather, or plant fibers and always painted red.
The Deshret was often paired with the White Crown of Upper Egypt, forming the Pschent, the Double Crown, uniting both lands under one ruler.
What fascinates you most about ancient Egyptian symbols of power? ๐
