“...I broke two strings on my guitar in one strum. I thought it was a sign from God to get off the stage, because I’d rarely break a string, maybe once a year. So I walked to the front of the stage, stopped playing, and gave the audience the finger—with both hands…I wasn’t gonna stand there and be booed and have stuff thrown at us without retaliating in some way.” – Johnny Ramone, ‘Commando: The Autobiography of Johnny Ramone’

At the tail end of the Leave Home tour in 1977, Ramones kicked off the 1st of June with a show at Top Rank in Plymouth, on England's south coast. Originally booked at Wood Centre, the gig was moved to Top Rank to accommodate a larger capacity.
“...every band tries to achieve a distinguished trademark sound, but few accomplish it. That’s the ultimate goal, is to have a sound that’s your own sound.” - Joey Ramone
