PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT: EBOLA HAS BEEN CONFIRMED IN NIGERIA π³π¬
Stay informed. Stay alert. Stay safe.
Following the confirmation of an Ebola case in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), every Nigerian has a role to play in protecting lives and preventing further transmission.
π¦ What is Ebola?
Ebola is a serious viral disease that can spread through direct contact with the blood or other body fluids of an infected person, or contaminated objects.
β οΈ Warning signs to watch for:
Sudden fever
Severe headache and body aches
Unexplained weakness
Vomiting or diarrhoea
Unexplained bleeding in some cases
Symptoms alone cannot confirm Ebola, but early reporting is essential, particularly after possible exposure.
β How to protect yourself:
Wash your hands regularly with soap and water.
Avoid contact with the blood and body fluids of anyone suspected of having Ebola.
Do not handle the bodies of people who have died from an unexplained illness.
Seek prompt medical advice if you develop symptoms after possible exposure.
Cooperate with public health officials if contacted during contact tracing.
Avoid spreading unverified information or stigmatising affected individuals.
π NCDC toll-free helpline: 6232
Do not panic. Do not spread rumours. Follow verified updates from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) and the Federal Ministry of Health.
Remember: Awareness saves lives. Early reporting protects communities.
Please SHARE this message to help educate your family, friends and community.

This image is a strong teaching moment. A worker is plastering a ceiling while standing on a narrow plank platform, with a child strapped to her back. Here are the hazards it shows:
Fall from height: she's on an improvised plank scaffold with no guardrails, no toe boards, and no secure base
Child at the worksite: the baby is exposed to dust, falling debris, and fall risk
Overhead work: plaster and debris can fall onto her and the child
Dust and chemicals: cement and plaster dust, with no visible respiratory protection
No PPE: no helmet, eye protection, mask, or safety footwear
Caption (Instagram/Facebook):
π§ Would you call this hard work or a hidden hazard?
This image shows a worker plastering a ceiling from a makeshift plank platform, with a child on her back. Behind the determination is a serious risk.
β οΈ What's wrong here:
β Unsecured plank scaffold, no guardrails
β High fall risk, for her and the child
β Dust and falling debris exposure
β No PPE (mask, goggles, helmet, safety boots)
β A child at an active worksite
β What good looks like:
βοΈ Use a stable, inspected scaffold with guardrails and toe boards
βοΈ Wear proper PPE for the task
βοΈ Keep children away from construction areas
βοΈ Provide childcare support or flexible work arrangements
βοΈ Supervisors must stop unsafe work, no excuses
Economic pressure shouldn't force anyone to choose between income and safety. π¬
