Task & Purpose

The Marines have their first official NMESIS battalion.

1st Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, which previously operated M777 towed 155mm howitzers, has traded them in for the Navy Marine Expeditionary Ship Interdiction System.

This remotely operated JLTV-based weapon fires the Naval Strike Missile. The Kongsberg-produced stealthy-profiled cruise missile can reach as far as 130nm. While primarily intended for ships, it can strike land targets as well.

What IFV will the US Army be operating in 20 years?

The Army took delivery of the first Lynx XM30 prototype, American Rheinmetall announced on September 1st. GDLS delivered the first Wolf XM30 to the Army on August 21st. Now the testing begins.

This isn't the first time the Bradley has survived a replacement attempt, and some think it won't be the last. What do you think?

Here's our video on the XM30 program: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQ0VU...

Does the US military need a seaplane for the Pacific theater?

We argue that we do, and that it should be Japan's US-2 in the latest video: https://youtu.be/NF55eFHSNk8

This belt-fed 5.56 is supposed to weigh 10 pounds, but no more than 11.5, and be able to shoot high-pressure ammo - and lots more.

We go over the requirements, why SOCOM wants it, and the potential contenders here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKhV0...

Task & Purpose

Here is the General Dynamics Advanced Recon Vehicle-30 (ARV-30) - A candidate to replace the LAV-25.

GD will be building three prototypes for the Marine Corps to test - The ARV-30, ARV-C4/UAS, and ARV-L.

The ARV-30 comes with a 30mm cannon, the same one that is on the ACV-30. There are also sensors and cameras around the vehicle to give Marines inside much better situational awareness than was on the LAV. Other notes are that the trim vane (the thing that comes up to help push through water) folds out. There are also ladder rungs and steps to get to the top of the vic.

USS Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group and the 31st MEU have arrived in the CENTCOM AO. They arrived yesterday, which was just luck on our part that we also released this video yesterday on what a MEU brings to a fight. The short answer is a lot, the long answer gets into Stand in Forces, EABO, and what the Marines have been preparing for under Force Design 2030 changes.

Here's our story on the arrival: taskandpurpose.com/news/uss-tripoli-marines-middle…
